The concept and technology is real, however many "film makers and producers" have distorted this reality and have make a mediocre application of this beautiful tech. Many of them film on 2.5 K and when you play a serie on Netflix on 4K, the final product is totally different .
After a couple of years of trying on my Sony and my LG Oled, I decided to use only SDR on my two Apple Tvs devices, and to use only HDR HLG on the TVS. I'm sorry but what you see in a demo of Dolby vision is not the same that you can see in a Mandaloriam or The way of Water in AVATAR.
Please take my comment of Videophile as a recommendation and don" t let that your excellent technology be the degraded by the FILM MAKERS.

If I'm not mistaken, Dolby Vision operates in the Rec 2020 colour space. And there are no Rec 2020 displays commercially available.

Dell claimed that the Alienware M15 R7 QHD features Dolby vision/ atmos. I just found out its only capable on playing SDR color. Unless its connected to HDR monitor

Wow... these comments are insufferable. This video is just marketing and was made in 2014, which was when Dolby Vision was in its earliest stage of development. If this video was actually in HDR, it would look washed out because all the brightness and colours HDR offers would be cut off. This was only to push filmmakers and studios to start making/remastering their films in Dolby Vision.

Just watched simultaneously on a Motorola full HD phone and my new 50" 4k QLED HDR Dolby vision tv and there's no comparison.
Infact it's going to take some getting used to!

My only issue in Dolby Vision is color accuracy. When editing photos, you don't see the true color because it's already saturated

The more you increase the color the less like the real world your tv becomes. But yeah it's beautiful, HDR can look much better than real life...

I don't know about anybody else but I have found Dolby Vision to make things really way too dark like the whole screen in every scene is just darker even in brights scenes and I'm not a person that likes crazy brightness. But even on a OLED DV just makes everything dark.. Kinda Makes me NOT like DV. Still in 2021
