Bryon Gysin and Brian Jones both recorded the Master Musicians of Jajouka. They even wrote a song about Jones.

Yeah, Brian started the band but Jagger and Richards wrote the hits that put them on the map. Otherwise, they would have remained a Blues Cover band. And a Jagger and Richards weren’t going to take a back seat especially since they wrote all the songs. That was Jones downfall. He was a great player but he didn’t write original songs or sing.

And since the Glimmer Twins wanted to be the co leaders once Jones became unreliable they kicked him out and he was in a free fall of drugs and lost. Wyman was his only friend in the band. He really couldn’t help him. Jagger and Richards really wanted Jones off the stage and out the picture and they got their wish finally.

And Richards confronted Jones once and said you want to lead the group? Fine. Let’s hear some new songs. And Jones had no songs so that shut him up. He ended up a sideman in his own band afterwards. He was done.

Keith likes to tell the story that he rescued Anita from Brian, like a knight in shining armour, which he describes in his book. However, it is said in this new documentary that Anita had enough of looking after Brian who was not taking care of himself so, she moved from Brian's bed to Keith's. There was no hope for Brian once Keith & Anita became an item.

It would be amazing if living members would confess what happen between early managers and Brian Jones. Brian was a stone in their shoe. Brian tried to get the best deal and conniving managers gossiping that Brian was taking a lion’s share of the band’s money. After knocking Brian out the picture… the band was taken for a ride by the “music industry” 🤧🤧. Broke and couldn’t even clear a check. Will they get it through their fried heads that they were taken advantage of by everyone but Brian, or are they afraid they’ll wind up in a pool?

Got to see The Stones & Brian Jones documentary on the big screen last night! It was for a film festival and the place was packed. Nick Broomfield and Bill Wyman definitely made sure Brian's musical contributions were front and center; I even heard audience members saying afterward that Brian should have received more credit! 😁 The women in Brian's life were a very strong presence throughout the documentary, which is awesome. 👩 And most of all, the lesson I took away is, when you see someone having a hard time in life, be a friend. Say something. Just be kind. ❤

Mick and Keith formed the Blue Boys with Dick Taylor.
Seven months later Brian asked Keith if he could join the Blue Boys because he liked the way they played the blues..
Keith agreed and let him join.
Soon after, the Blue Boys changed their name to the Rolling Stones.
Essentially Mick and Keith formed the Rolling Stones.
Brian formed NOTHING. HE JOINED The Rolling Stones.
Brian wasn't even a founding member of the band that became the Rolling Stones.
The Blue Boys started out as a blues band playing many blues songs, including Rollin Stones Blues.
Brian did not chose any of the Rolling Stones, their music, or their name.
Bill Wyman did not join the band for another eight months.
Bill Wyman is full of shit.

"In 1966, I witnessed, on numerous occasions, the remarkable spell Brian would cast while working in the recording studio. Mick and Keith would bring songs in, Brian would listen and effectively take charge, and everyone was in awe of him. He was a real perfectionist. While recording the recorder part in Ruby Tuesday he explained to me that he had to do it over again as he had been a quarter tone off tune."--Prince Stash Klossowski de Rola (artist and friend of the Stones) in Brian Jones: Butterfly in the Park.

Bill Wyman has no clue how the other members of the Stones got together with the possible exception of how Charlie Watts became a member. Bill was there for that in January 1963.
Brian and Ian joined Keith's band The Blues Boys in May of 1962 and Bill did not join until eight months later in mid December.
Bill is the sole source of the stories about Brian forming the band, auditioning all the members, choosing who he wanted in his band and leading the band to play the blues. He is the only source of the lie that Keith and Mick answered Brians advert in the Jazz News to start an R&B band.
It is all lies and they have been told and retold so many times by journalists , book writers, gossipy magazine editors, movie voiceovers and anyone else who will listen to his poppycock and fantasies about which he hasn't a clue, that these stories have become myths and legends about how the band was started by Brian alone.
It is not true.
The fact is that , yes , Ian was the only one who answered Brian's advert who wanted to play R&B music and Brian had no band. The Blues Boys were an established band with Jagger Richards, bass player Dick Taylor and several successive drummers that were founded seven months before.
Brian liked the way they played blues music and he appealed to Keith to let he and Ian join Keith's band and Keith agreed.
Read Brian's letter to the head of their fan club written in early 1963 about how the band was formed;
“The band is really an amalgamation of two bands. The one being an R&B band I formed about a year ago, and the other being a group run by Mick and Keith in S.E. London. I was introduced to Keith and we decided to pool our resources, so with Stu from my band, and Mick from Keith’s we became the nucleus of the ‘Stones.’” --Brian Jones 1963
The " group run by Mick and Keith in S.E. London" was Keith's band, The Blue Boys, who after Brian joined them changed their name to the Rolling Stones, prior to their debut at the Marquee Club in Soho.
Dick Taylor was still playing bass for the Rolling Stones and Chapman was playing drums at that, their first performance as the Rolling Stones.
When all that happened Bill was across town playing bass for the Cliftons and he had no knowledge of what was happening in Keith's band, The Blue Boys.
Everything Wyman tells everyone who interviews him about the early Stones are made up fantastic lies.
He wasn't a member, though he likes to let writers think he was, and he just wasn't there.

Bill has a reputation now of lying about how the band was formed and who formed it. He was not a member for another eight months AFTER Brian joined Keith's band the Blue Boys so he had no information of what happened while he wasn't there.
Everything he says about Mick and Keith going to Brian to answer his advert and auditioning for him and then Brian "choosing them" from some imaginary pool of applicants is pure hogwash fantasy. The only musician who answered Brian's advert who wanted to play R&B music was Ian Stewart.
The stories Bill tells about how Brian choose the music that they played is also a lie. The Blue Boys were a blues band before Brian joined them and the Muddy Waters tune Rollin' Stone Blues was in fact a part of their play list BEFORE Brian joined. .
Brian had promised when he joined that he could get them gigs because he knew all the club owners, but when he couldn't deliver more than a few they had to look elsewhere for proper management...
"Brian wanted to be a band leader, that is to say he wanted to lead a band, but he just wasn't very good at it." ---Charlie Watts.
When they found out Brian was still taking 5 pounds more payment than the rest of them , supposedly for "leading the band" long after he stopped trying to get gigs, it understandably infuriated them and they never trusted Brian again.
They should have fired him then for his greed and dishonesty.
Brian liked the music Keith's band was playing and he liked the way they performed it so he asked Keith if he and Ian could join and Keith agreed.
Brian not only did NOT found the Stones ...He wasn't even a founding member of the band that BECAME the Stones.
The Blue Boys had been founded by Mick, Keith and Dick Taylor the original Stones bass player seven months before Brian asked to join.
The film relies heavily of Bill Wyman to talk about the early Stones. I do not believe a word he says. He has an agenda and honesty is NOT part of it.

“The band is really an amalgamation of two bands. The one being an R&B band I formed about a year ago, and the other being a group run by Mick and Keith in S.E. London. I was introduced to Keith and we decided to pool our resources, so with Stu from my band, and Mick from Keith’s we became the nucleus of the ‘Stones.’” --- Brian Jones 1963

"Stu Is a nickname for pianist Ian Stewart and the " group run by Mick and Keith in S.E. London" was the Blue Boys, Keith's band that Brian joined and shortly after changed their name to the Rolling Stones.
