Great vid m8
ОтветитьI found him quite interesting😀
ОтветитьAfter seeing dozens of these videos, I just have 1 question. What does "CONOB" mean on all these Roman coins???
ОтветитьI just got a coin with Arcadius on it. You can get killer deals on nobody emperors. One with Octavian on it is like a grand. I got another with Maximian on it.
Ответитьwhy roman didnt have ministers
ОтветитьActually the column of Arcadius had to be torn down in the 1500s due to being weakened by earthquakes.
ОтветитьRuhfainus...? i believe "Rufinus" would be pronounced as "Ruvienus"
ОтветитьArcadius is basically the Roman version of King Henry VI of England. His weakness leads everyone around him to fight each other for scraps.
ОтветитьI’m a big fan of your channel and videos. It’s awesome that you’ve covered every eastern Roman emperor. Thank you and keep em coming!
ОтветитьThe Vampire Diaries
ОтветитьI am curious what does "Dark complexion" mean exactly?
ОтветитьAlright be honest. You are here from vampire diaries
ОтветитьChrysostom actually means "golden-mouthed".
ОтветитьArcadius’s court sounds like a really bad soap opera
ОтветитьHis achievement(despite questions of 'achievement' on being attributable to him) for commemorative column seems too small to build it, and your humorous sarcasm made me laugh loud with a lot of fun. On top of humorous and/but proper assessment for arcadius, your video is full of contents and often surprises me. Good watching and learning.
ОтветитьFun Fact: There's a mall in Ankara called Arcadium
ОтветитьI came here with the popcorn to watch Rome fall... or rather listen to. Arcadius, LOL.
ОтветитьTwo neat points I learned recently: 1) John Chrysostom is arguably the originator of Christian antisemitism and the charge of deicide (earlier Christian works, were somewhat antisemitic, but were really more or less defending Christian practice at a time Christians were powerless, whereas during Chrysostom’s age Christianity was dominant, so the context is very different)
And 2) Aelia Eudoxia apparently had a eunuch choir-master who is speculated to have been the originator of the Castrati (eunuch singer) tradition in western music.
You are trivializing one of the greatest moral figures of Christianity and a saint. Your account is historically inaccurate and you have selected and interpreted only certain pieces with which to push a shallow woke narrative. Chrysostom was loved by the common people and they revolted against his exile. The Western Emperor and the Pope also spoke and acted in his defence. Eudoxia is a vein shallow nonentity which got in power by chance and did not have neither the intellect not the morals to do anything useful with it. People can be well-educated and stupid at the same time.
ОтветитьWas he dark skinned.
ОтветитьHow does the final proof of that gold coin get past the final stage before going to the mint? What am I, an Elf? Rejected, put an eagle or something.
ОтветитьIf it's any consolation, the voiceover in this video does not betray a "dullness of wit."
ОтветитьWhy am I am picturing Arcadius as Big Head from "Silicon Valley" ?
ОтветитьI'm pretty amazed to see that person as sickly as Arcadius performed in the bedroom much better than the courtroom, like he had 5 children with Eudoxia (possibly even more). Not that bad champ 💀
ОтветитьMy first video of yours was the one about Heraclius. Excellent videos, you are a superb historian.
ОтветитьYour service to the community of us history nerds is very much appreciated 🙏 would you or anyone else have suggestions on books regarding Byzantine history?
ОтветитьThe Roman Castrati were much more fortunate than their Eastern brethren in the Han and subsequent dynasties. Nothing was left for a Eunuch to hang his hat on in Xian or Loyang.
ОтветитьI make sure in Attila total war he is raped and destroyed by visigoths.
ОтветитьByzantine history is Game of Thrones with less pronounceable names
ОтветитьDig the whole presentation.
ОтветитьGiven how ‘i’ is pronounced in all of the names of people from this era, shouldn’t ‘Refinus’ be pronounced “Reh-FEE-nuss’?
ОтветитьSynesius, what a douche!
Pity his teacher, the famous Hypatia of Alexandria, didn't teach him better manners.
Fun fact, the Canadian robotics competition for high school and cegeps was called Arcanum in 2021
Ответитьvery ciool aproach !!!!!!!!
ОтветитьWtf they made Eutropius to look like alien
ОтветитьCorrection: 5th century, "A.D."
ОтветитьAlthough it makes less interesting history, still better that Arcadius was mild mannered then crazy.
ОтветитьI'm surprised to see no one is saying how BASED Theodosian dynasty was
They stampeded out the Mushrik and Kufr
Arcadivs was basically a less bad version of Emperor Honorivs who kept his empire mainly intact through mostly competent advisors & his wife, unlike that of his younger brother, the only exceptions Honorivs had being Stilicho and Constantivs III.
ОтветитьI just referred to this video in a short of my own: The Head of Arcadius. Thanks, Thersites.
