Wait the definition of budget is an estimate of expenses for a set period of time. Estimate points to the future, the past is facts. I'm lost, are we putting lipstick on a pig?

Let's just call it a budget. A conscious spending plan is a budget and it should be guilt free and liberating.

I still can't understand him. He said the budget usually look back (I presume to validate that the budget is meeting expectations) then he said: don't that, is best if you do this "thing" (a budget) monthly and monthly go look back a month to see how much you are spending...
¬¬.

I understand the envelop system will take care of the follow-up after that... but that is what people is doing on a budget if they are already using the envelope system. So I do not understand the initial argument "Budgets are no good because they look back" :S
