I've never played the game and I came into this having no clue what it was and watched everything so far. I was surprised they killed Pedro's character off. The last episode with the "lesbian" scene made me cringe.

Primary reason I cannot watch the show is Bella Ramsey. As much as I dislike the 2nd game the mocap and voice acting is top notch. The show is not even remotely close.

Forget the zombies, because an epidemic of non-binaries is rampant here. First scene: Ellie has a new girlfriend. Two episodes later, she becomes a dad. Yes, dad. A guy criticizes their kiss. Pedro Pascal beats him up, and she tells him she doesn’t need him. No father, no man needed. Just a queer world, without gender, without bearings. And that’s no coincidence. The actress is non-binary in real life. Pedro Pascal’s sister is trans. And he’s gay. So this isn’t a series, it’s a directive, a model to follow. Want to survive? Change your gender. Reject your parents. Then you’ll be immune. This isn’t fiction we’re dealing with here, but programming.

How the hell does the drinker come up with a better story for part 2 in 1 minute than Neil Druckman did in years of development. Having Ellie save Abby and they grow a bond only for Abby to find out about Joel and kill him that would make a great betrayal that would justify Ellie going on the revenge quest.

Abby exists as Neil Druckmans Fetish and nothing else. He wanted to see himself fuck her, and he built a Game around that Cutscene.

Will, I took the time to listen to this video at 2x speed and might I say, you are just as understandable, you are an intelligent, funny and well spoken man even at 2x speed.

Having only watched the show I stopped watching partway through this latest episode. The character of Ellie is just insufferable this season.

Abbey could only have been accessing essential medical supplies for the rest of the game community with accessing those growth hormones.

I've never played the game and knew nothing about the story. I liked season 1 and hadn't seen season 2 yet but saw a spoiler and with Joel dead my interest plummeted. Not interested in agenda driven programming.

Season 2 has had over a 30% drop in viewership from episode 1 to episode 2. Also, it's hilarious that google AI says it's had a slight drop in audience scores while they've dropped over 40--50% depending on the website. How is that moderate? Moderate would be less than 10%, 40-50% is a sign of fatality.

They made Ellie intentionally ugly to repulse the male gaze. WOW…

We don´t really have a reference point in the real world how a character like Abby would look like. How does a woman look like who is basically a soldier since childhood in a ruined city (climbing rubble, climbing ladders, running through tunnels etc.), and has a protein-heavy diet (no agriculture anywhere, but plenty of hunting rabbits, deer etc - even cannibals in s1)? Like Sarah Connor (fit, trained, but lean and nimble) or Gina Carano (strenght, muscles and brute force)?

The most damning fact against her portrayal in the game is that no other woman in her unit (or indeed anywhere) looks like her, despite having the same lifestyle.

From what ive heard the original writwr wasnt there for 2nd game and the lead guy is a woke idiot. He thinks hes way smarter than everyone. The first season wasnt anywhere near as good as it ahould be but this is unbelievable

Way to fix season 2: don’t kill Joel. Make it a twist and kill Ellie. Like Ellie saves Joel from Abby in some way but dies and Joel who up to this point was growing his heart back from losing everyone, becomes this Arthur Morgan guy who’s slowly getting sick or something but is a total badass and is unhinged. Have Ellie’s girlfriend come along with Joel for the sake of revenge for her love. Then have her give birth to a baby after her and Joel have to stop cuz she’s so pregnant it takes a few months. Joel during this time gets close with Debbie or whatever her name was about their love for Ellie; you show flashbacks of Ellie and Joel that we never see that show how cool she was, and then after the baby is born Joel find a “safe house” for Debbie and kid with a group. Joel does his mission and comes back but the group and Debbie are killed by a huge horde of zombies. Joel and baby escape. Joel names the baby Sarah-El like Superman or something as a homage to both and that’s the end of the season. Season three can be like 10 years later. Kids 10 and Joel then dies but we actually get another jump with a proper actress to play the role and it’s in a fresh new world or something. If not make season 3 about Joel trying to be a dad and the harshness of raising a kid in a world not meant for kids….. make Ellie a martyr for the show. Someone in season and game 1 you would die for and then she’s ripped from us right at the beginning by a girl who remind Joel of Ellie

I disagree with Mauler/Drinker about the shot for shot style. Imo it was one of the few positive things for the show. I love it and more game-to-screen projects should do that

this was difficult to watch, completely devastating to kill a iconic character like joel especially so early and in that manner he could have intercepted the golf swings and throw her easily so hated they made him weak and defenseless when he doesnt embody that kind of character from s1 and in the games plus all the therapy crap that made him less of a man.

@thecriticaldrinker One of the worst changes in the show was how they portrayed Tommy after Joel’s death. In the game, Tommy is heartbroken but driven… he chooses to go after Abby on his own, even telling Ellie, “I gotta try.” He’s a man of action and loyalty, willing to risk everything for his brother. But in the show, they turn him into this passive, hesitant figure who refuses to help Ellie and basically gives up. It completely undermines the bond between the brothers and guts one of the last powerful throughlines of Joel’s legacy. Total character assassination… well… another total character assassination.

Right these adpatations have one thing in common now, they don't justify their existence. I don't see it adding anything of weight or value from what we already got. It just seems lazy and unnecessary.
