ОтветитьFabulous!
ОтветитьHello Mr Hoffman !
So I've been trying to transcribe this piece for some time now. The second half is pretty straight forward, as it's rhythmical, but the first part aaaaa I'm losing my hair and teeth over it. How do you notate such a beat-free music?
Second question : obviously I've also tried to play it, but I have a classical formation, and I just can't obtain any of those sounds. Is it possible for me to attain a decent level in klezmer by just changing my classical technique a bit? Or should I learn a whole new way of playing?
Thanks!
Respects from Glasgow!

ОтветитьMaravilloso!
ОтветитьCouple of weeks ago I was walking around Cork City in Ireland and came upon an old Romanian man playing this music. I recognized it and sat across from him listening for probably around half an hour and then went to give him a few coins but he wasn't collecting so I started talking to him and asked if he was from Romania and that I'm familiar with the music he was playing and asked a little about Klezmer. He was so happy that I loved his music, I really think it made his day. :)

ОтветитьВосхитительно.
ОтветитьWonderful....played soulfully and skillfully :)
ОтветитьSAD MUSIC BUT SO LOVELY TO HEAR
ОтветитьHow does klezmer music ha e that delicious quality of longing? It's the same thing I hear in gospel music and Irish folk music, but not much else. A feeling of trying to make sense of life, as it comes, but at the same time it tries to emphasize the struggle for something indefineable. The daily and the sublime. Beautiful.

ОтветитьRomania carries in its land a combination of powerful musical elements. Once a territory of the Holy Roman Empire, the tragic and haunting history of the medieval Germanic lands touches Klezmer profoundly. Yet at another period of history much of Romania lay within the Ottoman Empire, bringing to Romanian Klezmer the mystery of the East. Bordering the Slavic lands also, Romania was a conduit for the Slavic elements in Klezmer. And as a crossing point between all four points of the compass, the territory of Romania received the culturally rich musical traditions of the travelling people's of history. Daniel Hoffman brings out all of these influences by his thoughtful playing. (Linguist and Language teacher, UK).
ОтветитьWonderful. Whenever I see and or hear a “bowed” Double-Bass, I the “Well Grandpapa is here.”
