How do you tell the companies that you want to consider the offer. If you haven’t received another offer yet. I usually get interviews a week after each other

*/ Slightly off topic */
I’m in the beginning stages of my journey (freecodecamp). Still working in the html/css portion. I like it so far. I know that finding a $45k a year starting out is realistic, but is it more acceptable doing two jobs on opposing shifts versus fumbling two jobs at the same time?

Appreciate another informative video. It was funny to hear that you felt “under paid” making that six figure income lol I can only dream to make that much 😅

Do you already have a video on negotiating salary increase / raises for when you're at a company for awhile, or if you don't make enough at a current employer? What are the "correct" ways to negotiate raises?

Subbed. I am binge watching your videos. I’m a finance director and make 200k. I am bored, though. I am going to be going through a 6 month full stacks coding boot camp for 10k. Would it be possible to match that with only 6 months? 😂

I dunno...I would always go with the "highest allowable ask"?...and then work down from there....?...or would "Current Market Rate" be smarter?...
For instance..if the going rate is 95K...and the company ISN'T "desperate"....me asking for 110K?....might shoot me in the foot..since they're looking to pay LESS than that!..So then asking fro 90K...would be more realistic?.......right? Someone tell me if any of that makes sense. I know I've been told to not lowball myself...asking for 70K when they're willing to pay 100K?...might send the wrong message...LOL!! All these little idiosyncrasies!!

Couldn’t agree more - ask them what the approved budget is for the position, if a number in that range is what you’re looking for respond with “yea I think we can definitely come to an agreement on something in that range”, if it’s lower than you’re looking for then just tell them you are looking for compensation higher than that range based on your experience, skills, abilities, etc and if they say no can do, say ok thanks have a good one. Move on

Hey Chris, thanks for the video! I’ve been watching your videos for years. How can I know what a company’s salary budget is for different web developer positions?

For example, I want to become a web developer in about 8 months to a year depending on when I can learn enough to build a nice portfolio.

Hypothetically for my first job as a junior dev, I imagine the salary range can be $45,000-$70,000 in Phoenix. However, if I can sell myself as a mid-level developer based on my portfolio maybe I can ask for something between $70,000-$90,000. I’d like to shoot for $90,000. I feel like many companies have a large budget, but they want to pay as little as possible if they can.

Are my ambitions in the right direction? I currently feel that my employer underpays me and others in my position. However, overall it feels like a good company with a decent work/ life balance.

How should I negotiate my compensation when I have no experience and just starting out my career? I know my value and what I am capable of, but without any experience would they be willing to pay for what I offer?

Why not just say you're open to negotiation? Make them give a number first. If they don't want to, tell them to get with whoever makers the budget and figure out what the best offer would be and get back to you. Whoever gives a number first loses the negotiation a lot of the time.

Any suggestions for asking for a salary increase after joining a company less than 1 year? Especially if you feel and proven you provide more skills and capabilities than other team members with the same title/level?

How hard is it to get a remote job that pays this well (in dev)? I've been in IT for 20+ years, Bachelor's degree, several certs, but I went with the support side (network engineer) rather than the creation side (software or web dev), and I don't make anywhere even CLOSE to what you make. I'm in the process of changing over to the dev side :)

Great video.. I see the weights 💪🏾 ... & I always ask that .. What is the budget for this position? Once they say their budget.. I say "I can work with that" or I say "Thank you but at this time I can't drop below my current rate" ... Companies have money.. Don't let them fool you into low balling yourself..

@Chris Sean - Hey Chris! Thanks for another great video. I have a question. I just started college, I'm 17, I'm going for a two year degree in cybersecurity. All I want is a career in tech, with remote opportunities. I know, it's a very broad idea, but I just want to be able to prepare for the years ahead and eventually move out of my parents house. Do you have any tips for getting that first entry level IT job before I get my degree?

Thanks,

Alex.
