Nice to see you are using AI to write your scripts now!
ОтветитьThat shot you said is unusable is so rad haha
ОтветитьI've personally never found color negative film to look good when pushed, in any scenario. To me, there's not really any point to it, it just always looks bad. Part of the limitations of photography, I guess. If you need to expose longer, use a tripod. If you are shooting people with motion, use external lighting. Flashes are perfectly acceptable at weddings.
Ответитьnew sub, iam amazed you still live in that hell hole San FranSiKO!
ОтветитьGD out there looking like the Zodiac
ОтветитьHi I would like if you can replicate the editing style of @victorelmarcorojo Wedding Photographers
ОтветитьThank you for not putting fake black bars and let the player do its job.
Gotta love a fully filled 21:9 monitor with video!
that was some beautiful light
ОтветитьMy understanding is that pushing our pulling refers to automatic or semiautomatic modes for exposure. If you use manual mode, then you are in total control of the exposure. So you can still use iso 800 but overexpose
ОтветитьThanks dude I was about to load a roll at 1600 but imma try 1000! Preciate
ОтветитьI liked this video for the last sentence.
ОтветитьWhy do photographers show their shots in white or black boxes? I think I'd enjoy seeing the photos with out borders/letterboxes
ОтветитьI use Portra 800 for concert photography I shoot it @ iso 3200 and it looks nice.
Ответить"You're all good. Don't worry about it." He says to the two passerby characters as they walk into his frame and he shortly after exploits them by using their butts to add value to his image. You sir are a manipulative liar! A very entertaining one however. So carry on.
ОтветитьOK. When I was dumb and young, I used 35mm Portra 800 with my Olympus Mju point-and-shoot without thinking too much about the price. But nowadays, I only buy Portra 400 for my Leica M6 because 800 is too expensive lol. As for experiments, I pushed +2 for 3 rolls of Ektars before and the lesson was do NOT push +2 for Ektar.
ОтветитьIf someone wants to shoot ISO 1600 and hates grain they should just not shoot film.
ОтветитьWould have been interesting to expose at box speed and push +1.
ОтветитьInsane quality man, love the use of the aspect ratio and the scenes in general.
ОтветитьExcellent vid :) thanks so much for these great mini docs into your process
ОтветитьFuji 800 was always the best for pushing
ОтветитьHow are those shots in that aspect ratio?
Ответитьdid you try to push portra 800 and then develop it with diafine?
wonder how the results would be (given that you dont push in the development and diafine should be more fine-grained)
I don't know if I missed something in this video...but here goes...
C41 processing method can't really be modified to achieve what you are calling 'pushing'.
'Pushing' refers to a 'chemical' remedy for trying to 'rescue' some parts of a latent image that haven't been placed on the right (optimal) part of the films characteristic curve.
So...if you underexpose 'too much'...darker parts.of the scene dont produce developable grain in the film. If you underexpose a bit...shadow areas do produce a latent image area...but it has less than it should for normal chemistry. Hence by say increasing development time (pushing)...you make those areas produce an image that they wouldnt normally. The problem is...areas of the image that havent been too badly affected by the underexposure get 'too much development'.
Upshot you get an image but colours start to skew because the characteristic curve of a colour emulsion has many colour sensitive layers that may not stay in balance with pushing or significant under/over exposure or chemistry mods.
This is still sort of true for monochrome but of course you cant see colour shifts.
Maybe it's just me, but I genuinely don't mind those lumps of ass photos.
ОтветитьI remember having shot better results with Portra 400 pushed one stop, and seing this only is 1/3 stop away from 1000 I'd say I much rather skip Portra 800 completely.
ОтветитьUnabomber Jason
ОтветитьIf it’s shot at 1600, with the same development time, it’s not being pushed, it’s being underexposed by a stop. I wouldn’t even shoot it at box speed. Never understood the love for this film, as most overexpose it, and then never say what speed they shot it at. You don’t shoot this stuff at box speed in broad daylight.
ОтветитьI push Portra 800 one stop frequently. It is important to meter for the shadows and like most films over expose 1/2 stop to tame the grain. Porta 800 produces rich, warm blacks. I would use an external light meter rather than the one in the camera.
Ответитьi love all the shots you took that day 😎👍
ОтветитьWill I get the same effect if I push Portra 1+ 800 stops?
Ответитьthe cinematography is better than your photography here in a good way cause the photos are also nice but damn look at those shots
ОтветитьIt's crazy how you say the shots are bad. Only you know its pushed film. 99% of people would consider it pieces of art.
Ответитьnice
ОтветитьAt some point photographers need to realize abandonded buildings look boring af no matter what medium you use
ОтветитьActually you can’t chemically push color film so if you lab let you think it is possible it’s what we call trust abuse
Ответитьyou have beautiful eyes
ОтветитьBeen a while since we’ve seen the sex-pan in action! Was starting to miss that cinematic photographic good good
ОтветитьI've pushed it once and I'll never do it again🥲
ОтветитьI pushed Portra to 1600 to use at night hand held. Got lots of grain, lost some contrast, but photos was totaly usable.
Ответитьwhat lens did you use for filming. it looks so good
ОтветитьRecently pushed Lomo 800 +1 and there was way less color shifting. I was stunned how true to life the colors were. Could have been the lab, but regardless I dug it and will be doing it again.
ОтветитьCan you make a video about how you color grade your videos?
ОтветитьWhat anamorphic lens did you use? This looked insane and fit the tx-1 perfectly!
ОтветитьHoly shit what a vibe. 10/10 video man. I’m always at peace and laughing when I watch your videos. Never stop posting❤
ОтветитьITS filt my 21:9 mon thanks jason is a good viedo
ОтветитьBeautiful photos and beautiful video. Thank you!
Also - you weren't robbed in SF? 👀
did you underexpose and increase dev time or just process normal?
Ответить
