Irene, magnificent looking prints. 8x10 is somewhat slow, but worth every pound you carry. Lovely face to photograph. The accent on the nose brings out the 3D appearance one looks for, one can almost pinch her nose as if a statue..Brava, Irene !!!
ОтветитьThanks! Amazing work!😉👍
ОтветитьHow does it look as an instagram photo?
ОтветитьGreat video and photos! Nicely done by all!
ОтветитьLoved this video, than you very much for making it. Hopefully it will encourage many others to adopt film. Can you shed some light on what developer was used to process the negatives?
ОтветитьIrene, I have used 4x5 cameras for over 50 years and it delights me that you are experimenting in the medium. Large format forces a photographer to focus on the subject in a way that is difficult to emulate in digital photography. It is slow and methodical and every piece of film is both expensive in time and money. I still have a Horseman monorail studio camera and an Ebony SV45U2 … all my lenses are NIKKOR in Copal shutters. The Horseman is a solid and efficient studio camera and the Ebony is a work of art, field camera that was hand built by Hiromi Sakanashi in Tokyo. Ebony closed its doors in 2016, not from lack of demand, but simply because Mr. Sakanashi retired. The Ebony, made of ebony or mahogany and titanium is a meld of tradition and technology. I love it. I no longer print images on silver paper, but rather digitize the negatives and print on a large format printer.
ОтветитьЧудові знімки! Як ви розрахували чутливість фотопапіру?
ОтветитьThat photo at the very end is amazing. Other than the newton rings and the dust. If you do a wet mount and get it printed super big, that'd be incredible
ОтветитьClass act video in every way? Love the music!
ОтветитьAll the way around wonderful!
ОтветитьAmazing good quality of the large format camera 📷 that's why old is gold... I'm really impressed by your informative tutorial about large format camera. Thanks! 👍
Ответить5 yrs ago. Hope Drew cheered up by now lol. Noice stuff! I get tired of all the lengthy chat but you went right to it. I'm gonna check out your newer stuff, Cheers!
ОтветитьWhat mm is large format?
Ответитьnice~
ОтветитьBest video thanks for sharing
ОтветитьOne of the “oddities” I remember experiencing as an advertising photographer frequently using large format cameras was that upside down and backwards on the ground glass became NOT upside down and backwards. As we all know from 8th grade science our eyes see exactly the same thing as a view camera. Our brains make the switch! Somehow mine found a work around to where I did not really think of it as upside down…but rather “normal”. Early on I would make the effort to invert my head….which doesn’t work very well…..
ОтветитьNice outside pics, but the indoor ones with continuous strobe did a big injustice to this beautiful model and this camera.
Ответить8x10 is cool for contact prints and for large display transparencies like you used to see displayed in light boxes in visitors centers in national parks.
ОтветитьFirst of all wow, secondly and most importantly WOW Incredibly beautiful selection of photographs. Top work team great results, liked and well deserved sub. I've never tried large format I'm currently hooked on medium format folders but after seeing you amazing work here I can see myself giving LF a go before I get much older. Regards and well done Paul
ОтветитьGreat job 👍
ОтветитьMate this is such a good video!
Got me super interested in LF now 🤔
Beautiful pictures, nice video, great mood! Congrats!
ОтветитьThanks for the intro to large format Irene! Your inclusion of the processing helped answer some questions I had. Thanks again!
ОтветитьIt is not right to talk about the "amasing shallow depth of field",
There is a normal DOF when using wide angle lenses like the
Schneider Super-Angulons of 65 mm, 58 mm and 47 mm.
And Zeiss Biogon 53 has plent of DOF
It is much more important to make the 150 mm lens less important.
It is not wise to shoot at f/5,6
I still am jealous of Andrew's Doctor Who shirt to this day.
ОтветитьGreat job
ОтветитьGreat model. Great backdrop. Great photos. Great video.
ОтветитьSuper!!!
ОтветитьNice to see someone using large format. Remember that Fujifilm has an adapter to put the GFX series on a 4x5, thereby providing the tremendous capabilites of view camera lensboard and back movements along with the best color and sharpness anywhere.
The problem with film is availability. With Fuji no longer making the best films in large format, for color, you are regulated to far lesser quality films . Processing large format E-6 films is also tough, with only AgX Imaging doing the highest quality work. No one has been as consistent in processing in the last 20 years as Mike Lussier.
wow, what a portrait, and a subject to shoot, how still, and LOVE the HP-5+ beautiful BOKEH effects.
Ответитьgreat video, By the way, Irene, the Tripod is a Manfrotto 074 + a 029 3 way head; we (LF photographers) use these as they can collectively hold 9Kg's of weight, NOT generally the weight of the Mono-rail 😃, BUT you have to consider times when Both standards are on one end of the rail, and you have the head pointed at a flower, or boat off the jetty, ie with the rail pointed downward!- a lot of off centre load is put onto the legs, this 9Kg's is a SAFETY margin, for these circumstances!!
ОтветитьThat focusing hood with the skulls is pretty dope.
ОтветитьAmazing results! Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьI was delighted with the quality of the images. I always admire Yrene's work.
ОтветитьWhat is next
ОтветитьHi what paper is that, which can be developed with a yellow light on?
ОтветитьThe images are amazing! Thank you for sharing, Irene.
Ответитьwhere can I find someone to take a picture of me like this? what do I search? I really want an old school type picture that is developed on those hard photograph papers
ОтветитьTry drum scanning
ОтветитьI've tarted dabbling in large format recently myself. I find that it really slows you down and forces you t pay attention to what you're doing. I'm finding it very rewarding and a welcome change from digital.
ОтветитьNice really nice 💯 I learnt something new today thank you for this video ❤️✨
Ответитьnice
ОтветитьOh wow. This was super interesting, I've never even seen large format negatives before. Loved watching it. Looking forward to more.
ОтветитьAbsolutely stunning portraits Irene. The large format combined with B&W film create such unique, detailed images. Some of those head shots look like 100 year old images. So timeless! Makes me want to try large format.
ОтветитьThis is FANTASTIC.
ОтветитьI truly appreciate how concise and thorough this video was! Thank you
ОтветитьSuper cool, large format is unmatched.
