Hello, love you and your videos

Ответитьxfce install taking a gig of ram is too high. Even manjaro plasma takes that much, and a fresh plasma install on debian takes around 600 MB. I wonder why didn't they use LXQt if they wanted a lightweight distro
ОтветитьThis is my laptop Lenovo IdeaPad 15isk specs
Can pop os work on my laptop
As smooth without glitch or lag

ОтветитьFirst time I knew ICE from Peppermint. I take it to my current Kubuntu.
ОтветитьIt's such an interesting mix of components, and they all work together. I could see myself installing this on an older Latitude E-series or even oler, just to give it a second, useful life.
ОтветитьThis is what irritates me about Linux. If developers put the time into only four distros, Linux desktops would be a lot better than they are. The community is spread way too thin while trying to ALWAYS reinvent the wheel with the next "greatest idea". It's really rather stupid! If they don't get their act together and try to make just a few distros great, this will always be the case and Linux desktops will never be able to be a true a daily driver, like Windows and Mac.
ОтветитьWow, I might try it out now. It being Ubuntu based is the reason I avoided it before.
ОтветитьExcellent video Brandon! I started using peppermint a couple of days ago. Love it!😀
ОтветитьDoes Peppermint OS 11 play nice with nVidia GPUs? I'm considering replacing Mint 20-series with this on an old Thinkpad T430 with a nVidia GPU.
ОтветитьDebian > Ubuntu, Snaps is bloat.
ОтветитьThis distro is really bad in my opinion. Ubuntu to Debian.. why?
Ответить>1GB for XFCE?? Ouch !!. Heavyweight !
ОтветитьIs peppermint cool?
ОтветитьBefore, Peppermint kinda looked like just Lubuntu (up to 18.04) with a different theme and some random extra programs. Now, Peppermint looks like it's indeed evolving into something unique. I like that.
ОтветитьWas one of the first distros I ever used
ОтветитьThe look of this new Peppermint distro is awful to my eyes!!
ОтветитьI'm happy with linux mint, but this looks interesting. I do prefer debian based distros
ОтветитьPeppermint lost its entire appeal. Straight up xfce, nothing special, not faster, not lighter, no nothing... Just one more useless "distro". Pitty.
ОтветитьI am kind of disappointed at this release it seems rushed and the welcome and control panel app could have more consistent icons also where has the themeing gone
ОтветитьPeppermint os 10 was using 300mg of ram
ОтветитьI downloaded it and installed it but I don't have sound
ОтветитьI'm a bit dismayed at the memory footprint you're showing here. I am currently running Peppermint 7 (yeah, I know it's old) on an Acer Cloudbook 14 and it barely touches RAM at all. I can have FireFox and Slimjet browser opened up with multiple tabs apiece, have gmusicBrowser going, and a video player plus other apps open and it barely cracks 1GB of memory. It truly runs like a speed demon and I hesitate to ever upgrade version 7 for 11 at this stage.
I inherited an old Compaq Pressario tower and looking to dual boot it from Win Vista disc. I will have to test the memory consumption on this version 11 (I tried version 10 a couple of months back and wasn't impressed). Peppermint 7 truly fits the bill for me at this stage and I'll have to keep an open mind about 11 until I gets some hands-on experience.
Thanks for the test drive video though.
No sound why.
ОтветитьIs samba working properly on install, is remote desktop? Multi monitor setup? Multi media codecs easy to get?
ОтветитьCan you please help me to get sound on peppermint
ОтветитьGreat review of Peppermint OS missed out the ICE functionality but thank you.
ОтветитьIt might end up not being my go-to light distro (really liking solus budgie on that), but I think i'll give it a go.
To this day I keep using ICE SBB and it is just great.
Btw you totally missed the web apps
ОтветитьPeppermint scrap
ОтветитьCreating a backup right now of my Ubuntu system then will be installing peppermint. I'll reply back if I love it or hate it in about a month
ОтветитьAll this is to me is a Debian Xfce that is harder to use with no web browser. Not very user friendly. It serves no purpose
ОтветитьI looked at this and there is the HUB which has sources all over the place so you can get DEbian stuff and do whatever xfce will allow as to customization... I was going to install it- but went wtih POP OS- and now it's giving me a fit- freezing and stuff-- tried xfce on it- lost the WINDOW TILING thing and that's the only reason I looked at it-- I LIKED this because it's FAST and you can change it to whatever you like--- :) IN that HUB- checkt he hardare etc. and it's FULL of goodgies... and I don't believe you even looked at it.. THAT is where the GOOD STUFF is.. in the hardware part of the HUB.. (system and software i mean).. sofrry
ОтветитьOnly problem with Debian is you can't install the latest platform tools. Aside from that it's a nice distro
Ответитьrecently started learning more about linux, linux is so cool, i think im gonna download peppermint os
ОтветитьFirefox crashes all the time tor worked good
ОтветитьLooking forward to your next review on the PeppermintOS release from 22 May, 2022.
Thanks !
SUPER-- they have the SLIDE SHOW built in for backgrounds too... LOOKS like they put in what I wanted when I had it before!!! GREAT REVIEW-- I LOVE your reviews-- so smooth- and you don't waste time reading what everyone already knows-- just the GOOD stuff-- no fluff no muss- just GOOD info!!! I'm not the biggest fan of XFCE- but I've since learned how to customize it better.. so I may give this one a run. I'm on MX21 right now... and LOVE that-- because of the snapshot- live to iso feature..
ОтветитьI tried mint, ubuntu, fedora .......I couldn't get any of them to download onto my laptop......then I found and tried Peppermint.........success at last.......
ОтветитьHeard that it automatically updates, can you opt out of that?
ОтветитьI want to UPGRADE from 10 to 11, can you make suggestions for that.I don't like pulling an already working OS if I don't have to. I see too many How to install a new OS, but not how to upgrade from existing OS.
ОтветитьI don't think there's any easy way to upgrade from Peppermint 10 (Ubuntu) to Peppermint 11 (Debian). It looks like you have to download and burn iso, partition drive, and install on a new partition.I would love tobe wrong.
ОтветитьSuper fast distro
ОтветитьMaine System im setup on Android Studio and flutter work like a charm No more GNome
Ответитьim using dongle wifi and Bluetooth, how to connect to wifi using it?
ОтветитьGood, would be nice if the Mint team make LMDE the main edition.
ОтветитьHad trouble installing Linux mint vera, the install refused to complete after many attempts. I have peppermint 10 on another laptop which installed with ease. So I downloaded Peppermint 11 debian onto a DVD and it installed flawlessly. The improvements from 10 to 11 are quite wonderful. Only took a short time to get the hang of loading packages of which there are plenty. Good work on this new upgrade everything functions perfectly.
