This is a great tutorial, thank you. Worked for my Fedora 39 and Windows 11
ОтветитьThank you very much! I'm waiting a new drive to arrive so I can try linux(Fedora) for the first time :)
Ответить"only do sudo if you know what you are doing or you trust somebody like me"
ОтветитьThank you for these tutorial i might try this later for sure!
Ответитьi did everything you said but i dont see any boot menu. it takes me straight to win 11 again. wtf?!
ОтветитьGood video.
ОтветитьWhat is gdp?
ОтветитьDon't click on shrink a volume but shrink volume. Lol
ОтветитьJust use a brand new USB.
ОтветитьI am new to Linux and wanted to have both Windows for gaming and Linux for personal use. After juggling through a lot of videos and articles, this one finally did it for me. Thank you so much for your effort.
ОтветитьThis is awesome presentation. Thanks
ОтветитьMan I swear yesterday I installed windows on my pc and the first time it has asked me for an update and blocked my working and installed fedora
ОтветитьSimple tutorial and all, but i didn't dare to use grub-customizer because i read some dangerous stuff about it.
Ответитьeverything is fine but I don't see windows in grub and in grub customizer
Ответитьit says i have 48.77 gb of free space but i can only shrink it to 3 gb
ОтветитьDoes Grub Customized let you do anything to make multiple partitions decrypted with just one initial passkey as you are prompted to enter to decrypt your primary partition that the system is on at startup? I've asked about this on forums but have gotten told to fu&$ off to the Arch forums where I get to run out of documentation to read and not encounter a part on the grub section that speaks about this.
ОтветитьWhen I want to shrink my disk it says there is only 18 GB available but This PC shows 175 GB available. How can I fix this please?
ОтветитьInvalid image
Failed to read header: Unsupported
Failed to load image: Unsupported
start_image() returned Unsupported
Showing this during boot. And unable to boot fron pendrive 😢
Is this a stable solution or a major Distro/Windows update would mess things up?
ОтветитьGreat illustration and explanation. Have subscribed. Can you do the same with Red Hat 9.2/Windows 11 in the same way? Thanks.
ОтветитьUPDATE - for people facing problem in grub update after modifying the settings in Grub Customizer,
Re-run the command `sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/efi/EFI/fedora/grub.cfg` after you tweak in Grub Customizer.
can someone talk me through this process as im just worried to do it by myself
ОтветитьFor windows 10 machines I am not seeing the usb in the bios options
ОтветитьI have 2 SSD's: the first one with my old windows system and a brand new ssd with a fresh fedora install. For some reason the fedora ssd doesn't show up in my UEFI BIOS (MSI Motherboard) as a boot option. If I shift + restart in windows however and then select "use another device or recovery partition" I can choose fedora which then launches grub. Once in grub I can select both windows and fedora without problem.
What can I do to launch grub by default on boot in this case?
Hey, what if I Windows Boot Manager doesn't pop up for me in the grub customizer? Please need an answer!
ОтветитьI dunno why, but it didn’t work for me, when I boot from the USB device, i got this error message: Initramfs unpacking falled: X2-compressed data is corrupt
ОтветитьWhen i test media it fails at 4.8% but i checked online and its just cause windows breaks it so 4.8% means the drive should be fine so just restart and install without test
ОтветитьOn tutorial everything is great. In real life, after installation, I have an "An operating system wasn't found." 🤣
ОтветитьI've dual booted Windows and Linux a lot. I know a lot of people have no problems but I had a couple of disasters (one trashing the other's bootloader usually). I ended up getting a SATA drive power switch module. This solved everything- just give power to the drive I want to boot from, plus a shared data drive that always has power.
ОтветитьNo swap Memory? will it be okay?
ОтветитьCan you explain me how to do it starting from fedora?
Ответить👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

ОтветитьCorrect me if I'm wrong, but can't you just install Windows on one SSD then install Linux on another SSD on your machine? You should be able to switch it over in the UEFI/BIOS before boot
ОтветитьWhen I Try to Burn Fedora 37 with RUFUS , He give me that a Something Called “grub 2.0” didn’t found and give me a Choices one of Them Is Try to install It and I accept , But i didn’t not know what is that ?
ОтветитьWhy can't I see Windows Boot Manager anymore?
ОтветитьI just followed your video and I got to the last point, so my Fedora installation seems fully functional, but although I would rather not get Windows as my priority boot, I want to switch every now and then. So I went through the commands to modify the grub manager. However, when I boot up the PC and enter the BIOS I don't have any OS choices, just my SSD on which I have both the OS installed. I don't have a choice when I turn on the PC. I get sent directly to Fedora, which is fine mostly but , how can I make sure to do that? I tried to repeat the steps, restart the PC, and do many checks
ОтветитьI encountered an error. After i made the changes in the grub file, and reloaded grub, my grub boot menu doesn't want to show up when rebooting fedora. (only when i hit Esc) but shows up, when i reboot from Windows (without hitting any key). Any idea why is this happening?
Ответитьexactly what I did
ОтветитьI NEVER backup any data 😎
If you create any sort of backup it means you aren't sure of what you're doing, hence you're destined to fail.
(jokes aside, I actually do have backups for important stuff)
Very helpful thank you. What about putting linux on a separate drive.
ОтветитьI got a problem with grub customizer... each time I try to install via terminal I get an error which says, it couldn't be found. I'm running nobara, which is based on fedora.
ОтветитьAwesome video! Thanks! About to try Fedora.
ОтветитьAlways hated dual booting, but would definitely do it if I always used a laptop.
ОтветитьI still cannot figure out the key commands you used Brandon to save to grub changes for putting windows first?
ОтветитьOh wow. I went exploring for myself in preferences-shortcuts and I do not have a save contents key combination configured. Trying to do that now so I can save future grub alterations and commands 🙂
