I’m 42 and have never had a boyfriend because of my pcos. I have thick black hair on my face, arms, back, abdomen and buttocks. I am almost 43 and have struggled with excess hair. My story is similar to how it started. I was super skinny and active early on. Puberty wrecked me. I had heavy cycles, put on birth control at 16 just to help regulate. I played sports and I would have to double up on tampons and pads. I'm in my 50s and having some of these symptoms but also some that are opposite, and I'm getting confusing responses - that it is or isn't PCOS, or I am or am not in Menopause (instead of heavy periods mine will disappear for a year .. then come back a couple months, then disappear for another year, all the while with weight gain and painfully swollen breasts and lymph node areas ...). One of my relatives discovered that she was born with 2 uteri and 1 kidney, and one of the uteri did not drain properly so she suffered a lot, for years, before they discovered it. Strangely, when she went to have a half hysterectomy, there had been another patient at the hospital with the same condition! I really want a detailed internal scan to see if I have anything like that, and I wonder if other women have this condition too. That is so true about the weight gain. I don’t think people without pcos get it. They think we are secretly eating more when they’re not looking. My friend/roommate didn’t believe me until we moved in together and I gained 20 pounds in 4 months from eating her cooking- which was not unhealthy Btw, lots of veggies, but a lot of white rice also (she was Asian). I don’t eat any bread pasta or rice, I order a salad when I go out with friends for meals, I go to the gym every day and I’m still 50 pounds heavier than all of them.

I have PCOS due to insulin resistance. I have the weight gain, ance and facial hair. I finally get my periods every month after years of being irregular. Its been a full year. I have faith that I can reverse the rest of my symptoms.
