In my opinion the most important prophecy about the Kaliyuga is the statement in the Rigveda and the Mahabharata that it will end (as also the Tretayuga and the Dvaparayuga before it prematurely) when Vishnu has finished his third step through the universe. Meant is the up and down movement of the constellation Orion which backwards calculated began about 36.500 BC at the end of the Tretayuga and at the same time of the Chakshusha Manvantara (and which also was the date of the great flood, which Berossos dates 33.500 BC), when Orion was falling out of the zodiac. This movement of Orion will end about 2400 CE. The whole backwards calculations of the yugas by the Hindus are nonsense. In our Mahayuga only the Kritayuga reached it's full length.

The date of the war of Kurikshetra about 5000 years ago is nonsense. In the 12th canto of Srimad Bhagavatam the dynasties after the war are listed and their duration. Summed up they give more then 4000 years and they don't end at the birth of Christ.
