So, I have to agree that the .410 revolvers are not a good concealed carry firearm. That being said, for home defense, especially in apartments and garden homes and homes that have very short distance to the next door home, I have to say for a quick get firearm, I would prefer them. Power enough to make a forced entry stop and assess their choices in life, and able to be loaded with a full on .45 in later rounds to end the forced entry's choices in life. The early rounds won't easily make it through several layers of walls, making the neighbors safer.

AR Pistols are very effective when choosing the right caliber. 223 or 556 is a bad idea as it takes 12" just to burn the powder. However, 300 Blackout only needs 7 inches. Sure longer barrels provide more velocity, but heavier bullets and compact frame make 300BO pistol a no brainer...but not for conceal carry.

Taurus judge is a fine weapon. Especially for home defense or vehicle. Fantastic gun to have in your collection. Everyone should own one IMO.

I'm still waiting for a handgun with two barrels, each on the opposite sides of the holding hand... ya' fire it sideways (like the moron gangsters) then ya' twist it while unloading at the target.
The 'Double Helix Corpse Marker'.

A 4 barrel, buckshot-loaded, sawed-off hand-shotgun... 'The Closed Coffin'.

Third, I need a hand-held javelin launcher... The 'Face Bloom'.

Finally, naturally, I need a hand metal-storm-type-projectile-launcher. The barrel is a 4" by 4", one-foot-deep square box and, just like the full-sized Metal Storm that the armed forces use in the air, it has a series of bullets, one behind the other, that all deploy at once and sound like a robot fart... 'Gentleman's Iron Skitters'.

ALSO, the pistols that shoot rifle bullets are NOT JUST NOVELTY. THAT IS SILLY. Ill tell you what, you give one guy a glock 9 mm, and give anothet a Pioneer arms HELL PUP 7.62, AK pistol... and mr Glock does not STAND A CHANCE. I'm starting to feel like the maker of this video has never actually been in any of these high-stress situations. Large revolvers are terrific in a firefight. And if you can find a comfortable way to carry it, a larger pistol design upon an AR or AK platform will outperform a standard Glock or Springfield XD 380 through 10mm in every single aspect. Way more accurate. They carry kinetic shock which is something not provided by a typical handgun. They neutralize your opponent regardless where you hit them unlike a standard pistol. To say you wouldn't want to trust your life to them and call them a novelty does not make any sense. Of course neither does saying that carrying a large revolver would cause fatigue. Maybe if you're 90 or 100 lb woman. And that case the main reason you don't want to carry most revolvers is because of the hammer hanging up during withdrawal. They make a lot of revolvers with the hammers shaved. And you can save the hammer on any revolver without hurting performance.

Derringer isn't required for accuracy, magnums aint for day to day concealing and neither are pdws. Surplus or second hand weapons are as good as you pay for or maintain. A 410, is a man stopper. Poor effort this video.

The only ones I agree with are rifle caliber pistols and 410 guns. The former are better off being chambered in pistol calibers, and the latter is a lousy shot guage and the shells are overpriced.

Derringers have their place as a backup boot or pocket gun, althought I'd prefer a NAA mini revolver for that purpose. Big magnum revolvers are fantastic woods guns for bear defense or pistol hunting, and surplus are best left off for collectors... once they're gone, they're GONE. Now police trade-ins can also be considered "surplus", and new, broke gun owners can find fantastic deals on service/duty pistols by going that route.

Nice clickbait thumbnail of a Gen5 Glock 19; it was nowhere to be found in the video and it's a good pistol.

Deceptive video. Except for the surplus junk guns, many of the guns mentioned have been used effectively for concealed carry and self defense and sure beat the hell out of throwing a rock at your attacker. They may not be your choice or mine, but they will defend your life.

Since most self defense shootings occur at 7 feet or less, I would say that I could most surely hit a man at that distance with a derringer. Also according to the fbi in almost all shootings of self defense there are two or less shots fired. I would venture a guess that having a pistol that holds a multitude of rounds and using all those rounds would cause you to be looked at in a very negative way by police.

Very interesting, very well thought out from your own point of view. But... until you have some actual experience, you are only turning in a book report on concealed carry. You forgot something that kind of let the cat out of the bag. Anyone who truly understands the purpose of firearms, and by that I mean, anyone who has ever had to rely upon them for their very existence to continue in this life, understands that most of the points that you make are flawed. The Derringer type pistol is a concealed carry masterpiece intended for a couple very valid applications. It is a relic of our wild and rowdy past. It was favored by men who only had to shoot the length of a whiskey soaked card table. It was also favored by women ,who for the right price, would entertain drunk and often unruly gentlemen. Distance was no factor. The big magnums were never intended for concealment. Their purpose was for flash for gun enthusiasts and for defense from predacious wild animals in the wilderness. The rifle caliber pistol is a niche gun created for wannabe tacticool asshats. It's flaws are inconsequential as it serves no real purpose. The eastern bloc handguns are the product of cheap mass production. They have fatal flaws , however, on the battlefield, a bullet from a cheap pistol is just as deadly as a finely crafted handgun. Finally, if you suffer from fatigue from carrying a large caliber handgun, good luck humping an M60 and a combat load, as well as an accompanying handgun and its required munitions. Before you attempt another clever book report, get some real trigger time.

I agree. I did have a Judge I purchased early on. before I had a CC permit. I got it as a trail gun. hiking and camping alone like every week. Enough power to stop a bear, although I don't worry about bears much, but there are other potential threats on the trail, dogs humans, cougars... Plus I like the idea of being able to take game if need be. It served it's purpose. Then the political landscape changed even more, so CC became the focus. I got rid of the Judge and I have 3 CC pistols, one LCRx, a Cheetah 380 and a Tomcat 32, none of which quite feed adequate on the trail. I could carry my M-92 on trail, but it's kind of big and heavy, so what do you do? I like a powerful revolver for the trail, 3 or 4" 357 Magnum with 6 or 7 shots feels about right.

I have carried a derringer. only for defensive reasons. I don't plan on shooting at someone across a Walmart parking lot. Hornady makes a .410 Critical Defense load designed for a .45 Derringer. It has a .41 cal slug, followed by two. 35 cal. lead balls. If you hit someone with this, it would be a game stopper.

Old geezer here...A case can be made for almost any personal defense weapon excepting those that are proven dangerous to the user. My normal carry is a 1911 clone, but in hot weather when concealing a full frame weapon is problematic, I have a little .380 auto I use. I consider it a point blank, up close and personal weapon. It may not have the "stopping power" or carry the damage potential of larger rounds, but it'll sure let an attacker know he's been hit by something unpleasant. 1 shot stop? Unlikely. 7 rounds in quick succession? It hurts. A 2 shot derringer may not be much, but it still beats a socket wrench against a guy half my age and twice my weight. It might even do enough to make the socket wrench more useful to even the score. The best thing I do is remain very careful about putting myself in any situation that might require the use of any of the above. I'm too old now for the stupidity of my youth to make any thrills worth the trouble.

I might carry a derringer only as a second gun in .410 loaded with 00 buckshot for close up personal encounters. 4 to 6 balls of 00 buck would sure ruin anyones day.

If out hiking where there could be poisonous snakes. I would still carry it only as a second gun with snake or bird shot.
