Those miscreants know nothing of music, much less it's history. Country, rock, jazz, and pop all owe it's evolution to blues... plain and simple. Before that, the so-called "popular" music of that era basically consisted of English and Irish folk songs (which have no relation to country) asides from work songs, minstrel, and spiritual music of the time.

I don't understand why there is so much antagonism toward her album. People are allowed to try different genres of music. Everyone belongs in country music. Don't start that divisive nonsense about who originated country music. Country music originated in the Appalachian mountains. Some of the songs did come from the field songs of African Americans. But not much because Appalachian mountains didn't have a lot of contact with them. It was not like the Deep South. Appalachian mountains was mostly abolitionist. I get this bit of information from Appalachian Social Context Past & Present. We never co opted country music. Anyone that thinks that is ignorant of history and just trying to divide people. Some of the songs came the field songs of African Americans. But they also came from the ballads of Irish, English, Welsh, Scottish immigrants, church hymns, and folktales. The problem with accusing someone of stealing music they created is that its taking all credit away from the people & dehumanizing them. The Appalachian mountains went through a type of colonialization that turned the people into caricatures in order to steal their resources like coal. The whole country was fed lies about Appalachia and to this day a lot of rest of country believes those lies. Their basically saying Appalachia is not capable of creating a culture of its own when they say it stole country music. Appalachia never stole country music. All they come up with is the banjo and few songs as proof. The people in Appalachia hardly even had instruments to use at the beginning of country music. Song collectors in the mountains around 1900 said they heard few songs sung to instruments because people did not have many instruments. When they started having instruments, the dulcimer was generally used. Then other instruments began to replace it such as the banjo, the mandolin, the guitar and the fiddle.

Funny how the dark skinned humans accepted Emimen in Hip Hop with open arm, but the white light colored humans cant accept Beyonce into country music. The Creator made the dark skinned human full of compassion and mercy!

I am SHOCKED- SHOCKED to find out there is racism in Country Music. I thought that kind of inhospitable treatment was reserved only for Australian American Pop singers in the 70's who dared to delve into the genre. As I recall it even included the members of some obscure band of singers-songwriters who called themselves The Outlaws, whoever they were. Maybe the problem is that the self appointed ministers of Country Music culture consider themselves the sole arbiters of the Brand and simply don't want it changed. But it works both ways. I'm certain that the vast majority, if not all, of white Country singers would be laughed out of any venue if they ventured into Hip Hop or Rap and rightfully so. The thought of Brad Paisley belting out "Yo dog. Wassup? You keep hangin' with dat sista from another mista gone get you blisters you won't wanna hog." I love you Brad. Don't do it.
