Btw when he was young and went through puberty ruining his voice (that ruined his opera career) he got rid of his eyelids his lips and his toe and he wears that mask to filter out germs from the air
Then he had a mechanical rod placed into his spine had his hand replaced for a mechanical arm and a mechanical heart replaced and when he winds up the key into his heart it increases his awareness and speed
Turns out in his autopsy that his blood has turned to dust immunising gunshot wounds for him

I miss the 2000s costume fantasy movies. They have this half-retro feel to them, 90s techniques evolved just enough to look more modern without overrelience on computer technology that came with 2010s.

I am not saying that there aren't any 2000s movies that overuse CGI, nor that there are no 80s and 90s movies with timeless effects ahead of their time, I'm just saying that I like "the look" prominent 2000s style has.

Kroenen vs rinzler

Rasputin is a cool villain: polite, honorable. He gives Prof.Broom a painless death as a gift for raising Hellboy for him. And Kroenen makes sure he gets it with a quick stab in the back of his neck, Prof.Broom's dead before he hits the ground.

This movie was ahead of its time.

It never occurred to me until now that Prof. Broom was responsible for Kroenen losing the hand, that he reattaches the mechanical version of, in this scene decades after their first meeting. I like to think that Kroenen knew full well who Broom was and that deliberately turning himself off in Hellboy's company, would put him right into Broom's hands and thus peak his academic curiosity. Such a well written plotline between two very intelligent and long-lived characters.

I always wanted to be just like that guy growing up. I mean he bleeds sand and is made out of clockwork. How badass is that???

Pretty sure killing the agent and killing hellboys adopted father are not the only scenes. false advertising.

How did this guy survive so many stab wounds to same place???

Given the connection between Broom and Rasputin, I always feel a glimmer of decency in Rasputin in the death scene…

I mean, ya he shows Prof. Broom a possible, even likely outcome where HB heralds in the end of the world, but knowing that his low key rival is dying of cancer, there is an intimate connection in Brooms death.

No animosity, just granting his rival a quick and painless death after giving him a couple moments to come to terms with what is about to go down. No suffering, no dragged out cancer battle…

Even Kroenen making sure he had a good grip for stability and a clean angle to make it as quick and on target as possible… it’s got a sense of beauty to it
