More job postings != easier to land a job. C# and Java developers tend to skew towards the more experienced side of the spectrum or have CS degrees and just spent 4 years using Java in University.

I agree building another CRUD app in MERN isn’t going to land you a job. If you want to land a job, focus on building complex applications and learning in demand skills that are in shortage amongst junior developers. As well as building up your general engineering and system design skills.

My point is there’s no easy hack to getting that first job. If you want to set yourself apart, it’s far more about what you build than it is about what you built it in.

BULL CRAP!
I did exactly that and landed a smooth job like a charm.

I would recommend MERN for all beginners in web development as it is THE EASIEST stack to learn and to give you insights into how web application actually works.
Afterwards you will have the ideas you need for any other frameworks you will use

C# is used heavy in the manufacturing and electrical engineering companies. So pretty much jobs that aren’t so much affected by this whole AI takeover. Without looking it up, I suspect Embedded engineering is growing insanely

The job market for mern stack developers in Australia, Ireland and Singapore is way better.
All the 3 are English speaking countries.
You might be staying in a overcrowded country.
I am a mern stack developer who left Bangalore, India for Canberra, Australia.

Being in the industry north of 15 years and I can tell you with certainty that java and C# are always part of the stack of any enterprise, That's not to say that JavaScript isn't used at all but adoption is limited for the reasons mentioned in the video.

Im trying to become a front end dev through self taught. Does this mean that it's better to learn niche stuff than go with what everyone else is doing rn? If i go the react pathway, it means i have more competition and would have a harder time finding job since everyone is doing it? But if i pick a niche in what i want (front end), i'd have a higher chance since not many are going for that and what I'll specialize may be beneficial in the long run?

This is what I got from the vid and really curious what you think. Hope it gets answered or something haha. I'm just trying to figure out what i should do xD. Thanks :)

You are manipulating people. Because you are comparing java or c# with node. The comparison should be between java and javascript or spring boot or node js. Please do not do this for getting more views.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I got my first job and I had only learnt React and a little node + firebase. I got this job 6 months ago (made a video on it) and I use the PEAN stack (Postgres, Express, Angular, Node). I honestly think in the UK learning Angular & C#, it seems prevalent here.

Java is definitely king for total job listings, by a long shot, but that doesn't mean you must choose it.

A specialized language can get people into a market which hasn't seen demand filled. I'd class the current specialized areas in Go, Rust, C++.

Node.js jobs do exist, not only in startups, but companies running on AWS. Lambdas allow code in any language but a Node / React stack is a natural fit for certain companies for this. As you said the issue is not lack of jobs, but far TOO MANY developers who can code in node.js. The supply is extremely high compared to demand.

I work as a programmer/analyst currently and I can confirm the importance of knowing C# and Java. The org I work for still uses Java and ColdFusion. Why? Because it is safe and stable and they do not have a need to switch anytime soon. I got hired on the basis that I can code in java.

I also have a friend working for Dell, they use C# and angular.

I've been doing technical interviews in our company, and to be honest for a junior role (or even a mid-level role) I don't care how well you know React, you can be a master of useMemo's and useCallbacks but if you don't have strong javascript/typescript fundamentals you won't even be considered. In my eyes a candidate that has strong JS knowledge is worth way more than a React Andy, I am so done with people who get asked "how would you implement XYZ" answer with "in React I would do...", dude React is not everything you may be doing something else tomorrow, show me that you know how stuff works not how to use duct tape to fix every problem

Im lucky to have gone through a bootcamp two years ago that actually taught Java/springboot for the backend. I asked my instructor why not teach mern since its popular one less language for us to learn. And he said thats why.. because its popular. Every bootcamper learns mern. Learning java really set me up for success and i didnt even know it.

This is true I'm undergraduate and had mern internship this year but I realized mern is mostly utilised by startup big firms use either. Net or laravel even though they say php is dead i see people get job in laravel easily rather then mern also being e mern developer is pretty FUKCING hard you have to learn so much just to get junior developer job so much so my question is sir I won't leave mern since I'll start job by mern tell apart from mern which backend la language should I go with like java spring boot or. Hey man, I watched your video on how you were struggling to find your way in CS, and I would really like to get in touch with you and learn more about how you worked on your startup idea and how you landed a job afterward. It is rare that I actually find someone who is almost in the same shoes as I am. I am 22 years old, recently departed from an engineering degree to pursue CS, and I have had trouble with trying to get internship opportunities, and also I have an idea for a start-up. I would really like to connect with you if possible. Not only that, but I want to start making changes in my life to start on the right path and get to the point where you are, and I think one way that I can do that is by connecting with those who are in the position I want to see myself in. And also maybe work on collaborating on projects or even partnerships with our company ideas. Let me know. :)

Ima full stack .NET dev! companies use C# as middle layer (API). On front end they use react/Angular. As a Junior Dev I would say learn react and angular (THE BASICS), then learn how to build API's with .NET and SQL on the backend. OR... learn Laravel with Angular... Talk to all the local companies in your area and find if they build with .NET, do some volunteer work for them to gain experience... Impress them in Job interviews by talking about how you solve problems with design patterns. Give examples in your code...

If the language is too comfortable to use and a lot of people are using it then it's usually not a good idea to used it bc it's will caused a competition.

Always go into uncomfortable hard to learn languages like c# and java you mentioned bc you wouldn't have a competition bc too many people are struggling to learn it like people trying to learn c++

Always learn new languages bc of a investment. Maybe a company will invest in too it
