Alien whispers, lasergun ricochets, digital cathedrals and slithering mechanical snakes. Do it, college!

How is making a guitar sound not like a guitar unfortunate¿?

I'd go along way to get a pedal like this....
I would walk 500 miles.
When I go I'll send back a letter from America.

AAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUG!!!! Shut up and play your guitar (in the words of the great Frank Zappa). We will figure out what the controls do as you play. So frustrating. So you describe the sounds instead of letting us hear. Nice
SO annoying... stop doing swells. Just play. I can't stand demos where people talk talk talk talk

Try and improve the ratio of talk to demo - you talk too much - its the sound that matters not your description of it

They already have one, the RE-20. But you can find reel to reel tape decks cheap and have a real tape delay.

Sounds like a grain delay with some modulation effects. Interesting if that's what you're into. It could be fun to plug a synthesizer into it.

loooool you're so wrong. Music is not about technique, but about feel, it's not a sport xD. Dimebag can give 10-0 to Hendrix in technique, but Hendrix gives 100-0 to Dimebag in feel.

You're both idiots, you're basically saying he's into indie because of his dress sense and doing a demo which is his job to do. And Metal guitar isn't just Chugs drop tuned, yes a few bands do that, but then there are just as many bands that don't. Also Hendrix might not be as impressive as todays shredders, his finesse and impact he had on the way people played guitar is huge and he is an inspirational point for many modern guitarist. So yeah, you're both idiots for thinking opinions are facts.

that's because you came here and you were an ass from the beginning. why do that? the stuff you were saying started from the premise that you are better than anyone else. ok, maybe i shouldn't have done that, but why even do whatever it is you do, then complain about what someone else does while you put absolutely nothing up yourself?

"maybe to those with limited imagination," haha yes you have no ego about twiddling knobs. squatting will no doubt be this generation rock pose? if anyone is judgmental and presumptuous it is if your for assuming others can't create a "new" sound with out buying stomp boxes. ornamental-ism is nothing new

I don't mind when people choose not to use effects. I do mind when they put down other people. That's what you've been doing on this site. That's assholery and you should be ashamed. I don't go on to sites with traditional guitar playing and cut them down. If it's boring to me, I simply move on -- and not all traditional guitarists are boring to me. That's what is different about you and I. You seem to have a need to put people down.

the fact is effect chains have existed for a while now in music studios. Effects are for making records. So rather than actually learning about the recording process which is difficult or buying that expensive gear, an entire market is created for cheap lo fi imitations of vintage analog/tube driven studio gear and gets put in the hands of every 15 year old kid who wants to make goofy noises or imitate famous records. you arent making anything new with presets made by someone else

On top of that, you are not in my mind and have no idea why I am playing that guitar (which is not a $300 guitar and it had been modifies) nor what effects I own (they are not just what you see in my vids) and you have no idea what I am doing with them (except what you might see in a couple videos of cover songs)...You are simply a judgmental ass just looking to put people down if it differs from your approach...I don't cut down straight ahead players, I just prefer something else...

The reason I am using that amp is because it was what I had. I stopped playing electric guitar for about 15 years as I studied other instruments and got a masters degree in music performance on the double bass. When I was playing before, I was doing a style that called for such an amp. I just ordered a Supersonic which is more applicable to what I am doing now, if it is any of your business. The point is, you came here to troll and be an asshole, and you are doing a great job.

Ответить

I find it hilarious you think using just a guitar and an amp limits timbre when you are using the loudest cleanest amp there is.If I was playing a 300$ guitar & hearing exactly the way it sounds I might want to escape & lose my self in similar self congratulatory ramblings to justify why I need numerous digital emulations to express myself.anything to get around playing and composing.Not that knob twiddling or an obsessive interest in "creating" "new" sounds is wrong.production is great fun tho

Furthermore, it os only "patently false" if you assume that there has been absolutely no changes in those effects since the 1950s, which is indeed patently false. They come in smaller, cheaper, and more user friendly forms than those that musicians such as Stockhausen used in the 1960s. And yes, there are newer effects such as pitch shifting effects such as harmonizers and the later whammy pedal. Please factor this information into your thinking, and stop trolling.

I understand the history of effects, electron-acoustic music, and electronic music. My point to you is that if you use a guitar and an amplifier only, you get a small range of sounds compared to if you arrange stompboxes in various ways and actually use them. Many traditional guitarists seem content with limited possibilities of timbre, but many more possibilities exist. If you ask me, timbres are where elec guitar has the most potential to actually say something new. Does that clarify for you?

Ответить
@performancejames00
@performancejames00 - 19.04.2013 11:58

Your statement that the sonic possibilities of the electric guitar have been "exponentially expanded" the last few years by pedals is patently false. For example, in this demo the guitarist described the pedal as being a combination of delay,echoes,modulation, and filtering. You do realize that those first four sound effects were just a few of many invented using tape loops as early as the 50's and since then have been widely used in the production of popular music for well over 40 years?

Ответить

maybe to those with limited imagination, that might be the only thing that one might be able to think of with this...it's a box with electronics in it, not a style or genre...you may try thinking at any point now
