Will the rice paper get soft because of the buttercream?

This is a great tutorial thank you! The only thing I don't really understand is the purpose of the wax paper in the beginning?

since they will be soft if you leave it in the fridge for long, can i put it in a zip lock bag to ensure that it will look good til the day i decorate the cake?

I’m confused about the pearls. You said fresh water pearls - are they actual real pearls? Or made of something else?

After making one rice paper. I decorated my cake and put it on the fridge and it shrinked. Can it be put on the fridge after decorating it on the cake? How long does it last
