that is the lowest prowess ive ever seen at tenryu. the higher your prowess the higher your oppentents prowess. this is how so many good players are still stuck in red, and it only gets worse in purple. what you need to do to rank up is take azuceanas nurffed ass into rank and hold forward until your prowess drops, then take another character you will probably never win with anyway and do the same, until you reach absurdly low prowess, then with your main get ready to destroy ten year olds who mash heat buttons as quickly as they can. you will be playing a pocket of players who should be in green.

I remember from a long time ago I heard someone say, I think it was Aris, that it takes till about your 3rd Tekken game to actually start to really internalise the flow of Tekken and start to be fluid while playing. This definitely held true for me,

Tekken eight is "new player friendly", it has never been easier to get to a decent rank with certain characters

the devs must had been on drugs to have put this much damage on king, and why powercrush? anyone can reach purple it's not big deal, new players using victor or azucena reach fujin and above too you know. Overall insanely unbalanced game that let's skilled players lose and unskilled players win.

I was hard stuck at Tenryu ranks in the first few weeks and just like you I’ve played for many years. I finally realized that I was respecting my opponents way too much and playing the game like it was T7 trying to play too defensively and one day it just clicked for me and I started going ham on offense and now I’m at Bushin rank. This game definitely rewards aggression and now at blue ranks the game is starting to slow down a bit now that I’ve gotten past the jungle of red and purple rank drug addicts.

to be fair, JP red ranks are probably more like purple or blue. As someone who causally played tekken long ago, but 8 being the first tekken i actually play for real, I'm in red ranks too. I will say people are super aggro, and so soon as you put them on the defensive they crumble

What I have realized is that in Tekken, the different skill plateaus play like completely different games; you can't treat orange ranks like you would blue ranks, or like T7 orange ranks for that matter. You literally just need to find your one most "broken" move (just some knowledge check thing) and spam it, that's literally it. In my case with Drag, that's the b4, 2, 1 string which is plus and can be cancelled into tackle after the 2. If the Orange/Red opponent doesn't know that string, they are fucked and I literally just win off of that. Every character has something like this. Point is, cheese your way into higher ranks until your bullshit doesnt work, THEN you can "play tekken."

Okay so I labbed a little bit of Tekken 7 with 1 character.

Tekken 8 is the first ever Tekken ive played ranked. Im no god for sure, but I personally feel like the more aggressive I am- the more I win (at my rank). But also- I feel like I miss out on how to defend or punish things. It isnt fun to sit back, block against some character Ive never seen with 100+ moves, and lose. So I just want to flow chart my shit.

But also it isnt fun to not learn fundamentals and how to properly punish.

Doing my strings, getting plus frames, etc etc works for me. Power crush and making them afraid to play- im gaming.

I definitely need to go into replay and learn more tho.

I am struggling to get out of eliminator and ive been playing for quite a while too. I am just so bad in nuetral and punishing. Even though I know all my characters tools, i just dont know what those tools are for. Shaheen btw.
