Dr. Ellis, I tolerate better prescription Adapalene gel of 0.3% and apply retinol cream on top of it. Is my daily routine as affective for anti-aging, collagen production, etc as Tretinoin?

Hi Dr Ellis- thank you for these options! How often would you use a retinol product?

My skincare is all affordable. I’ve been using Naturium and love them. Right now using the 0.05 retinal can wait to move to the .10 . I’ve also been using the vitamin c, niacinamide and their Mandelic acid. Wanted to start low to then move to glycolic. And of course moisturizer. I use Cerave. The pricier one is my sunscreen elta md.

How do you recommend introducing products like retinols and vitamin c’s to super sensitive reactive skin?

Mother was an RN, I'm thankful she taught me to use SPF at an early age and to eat a wide variety of fruits/veggies. For the past 30 years, I've used glycolic acid once/week, retinA, six nights a week (or as tolerated), and my skin is pretty healthy. I revisited my routine recently because my skin def. changed during menopause. So I may reduce chemical peel to once a month or switch to an AHA wash, that still gives me the benefits of exfoliation but reduced contact to reduce the irritation factor.
My favorite products are CeraVe SPF 50, Vanicream Vitamin C serum, RX retinA, and Missha Time Revolution Essence. I like Undefined Day Serum, with brightening ingredients like Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutin, Kojic Acid, and Licorice Root.

I have been using Rx tretinoin for years and definitely see the benefits of glowing, plump, even toned skin. I absolutely love Lucent C. I've used so many of the highly recommended vitamin C products on the market e.g. Skinceuticals, Drunk Elephant, Revision, Naturium, DRMTGLY, etc. and I 100% agree w/ Dr. Ellis that the Lucent C is the best of the best - from the pump packaging, the formulation, and the price - it is so elegant and a pleasure to use. I think im going to have to try your vitC when mine runs out. 👀 I love that there are affordable versions of L-ascorbic/fereulic serums now! im a huge fan of the naturiam retinal.. I use tretinoin on my face every night.. but i still love the serum for my neck and chest. Its also worked really well for my daughters acne. She likes it a lot more than adapolene. I love that these really effective skincare ingredients are so accessible ❤

Is it safe to use a retinol while breastfeeding?

Aloha Sam... I'm a 72 year old man and live in Oahu. I had treatment with a couple of products from a dermatologist last year to clear up some skin conditions that were not cancerous but were minor melanoma. I want to keep it away and want to know what would be the best product s to use.

Can anyone recommend a good vit C serum without ferulic acid? I cant stand the smell. I cant do Timeless or even Prequel 😢

Am using a 0.1% retinaldehyde on my neck and will switch to the Naturium retinaldehyde once I finish Avene - saving me more than $30.

My dermatologist sends my Retin A 0.05% to a local pharmacy that charges only $36 - this is not an insurance copay. And they deliver it to my house. So it’s $18 per month. that’s affordable.
