Answering a FAQ! | Why am I playing rFactor2 instead of iRacing?

Tried rF2 again just the other day and was blown away. This is low-key the best offline racing you can get. iRacing's AI is a little better, but the car handling in rF2 is better. I have literally every car they've ever released, but didn't realize just how much the core sim has improved over the last year.

There´s nothing like play with F-1 cars from any season on any classic track on mods from rFactor. And what about the sound?!!! Best engine sounds ever🤩

Im having issues with my wheel -_- CSL DD
The wizard was just weird 😕 now when i run a practice run the sterring isnt sharp, almost like the wheel is 900° but the game isnt setting it per car

Yeah I agree. I’ve also just jumped back onto rf2 and I’m also really surprised by how much I’m enjoying it. I also have had it in my steam library for many years but couldn’t stand the ui so never really played it. The set up is still not the best but an improvement since the refresh so I was able to get the game set up in vr this time way easier than when I’d tried before.
The handling and ffb for me is the gold standard within sim racing. Sim racing is not about how amazing the sim looks (but it helps),it’s about how excited you are before,during and after a race. If rf2 was made more user friendly I honestly think it would take a huge chunk of people from the other 3 or 4 big hitters. For me also it’s all about online. Racing against other humans like in real life racing. The name of our hobby is SIM RACING,I think we sometimes forget we are trying to simulate the art of racing. Defo going deeper with rf2,so I hope the devs put some time into improving the parts that I’m sure they know needs updated . 👍🏻

Don't get me wrong I love ACC but glad to see one of the big content creators pushing something other than ACC or iRacing. reactor and AC are much better for just driving. You should look at WSS for AC, makes it so easy to get into their races and daily Mazda racing!

Rfactor2 just became "THE" sim, with the new online system.
Absolutely nothing compare with the driving sensation of that game.
I just buy all tracks of the game. Its just a simracer paradise Rfactor2 now.

My very first time to play rFactor 2 today after reading this presentation. I'm old and I'm coming from the old Midtown Madness (released 1999 haha!), then AC, ACC, Proj 1 and 2. Wow... rFactor 2 is just amazing. The driving experience is frighteningly real. Thank you for this vid presentation. Straightforward. Clear. Excellent! No annoying comments trying to be cool or funny. Subbed!

iRacing is so clinical it feels like it was programmed by a dentist.

Interesting this vid you’ve made DC, I’m also a iracing user, well now I am, I started on Raceroom when I moved to PC in 2019 and was a heavy user of the Touring cars as this is my favourite type of car to race but my mate Jamie got me into iracing and thats where all my league and online racing remains to this day, however I keep wanting to try and also use RF2 and especially as they now have the BTCC. I have had a few small sessions on RF2 and thought it felt brilliant but as you’ve highlighted, not great to setup and until LFM was very poor online, but now things are different and after watching your vid think I am going to make some time and effort and get on there.

We all get a bit jaded with driving games..im the same with forza 7..its the repetitiveness of ..the same tracks..the same car..the same people..but more so the same track..and the new tracks that are announced for the new forza just ain't doing it for me

Shame this died off so quickly.
It looks good sounds good has incredible ffb even on low tier wheels day night cycle and rain.
I could only play this if there were enough races.
I do hope content creators brancj out from i racing because to be frank its getting boring just watching everyone do iracing.
I am one of many players that just is not that interested in iracing and there is already more than enough content for those who do.

Hi Dave, just getting into Rfactor 2. You mention the flat spotting of tyres and the force feedback. The trouble I have is my wheel will really shake after flat spotting a tyre and I'm concerned about causing damage to my wheel controller. Is there a way to make the shaking and vibrations less after flat spotting? Thanks in advance.

This sim rFactor 2, has the best FFB physics I have ever felt. Makes my ts xw feel like a new wheel base

Love your videos Dave, this is by no means intended as an "attack". Do you have any thoughts on the current MSG situation? The company seems to be in a bit of trouble, and they have bought the rights to some much-love series (Indycar, 24hr Le Mans, BTCC). I would love to see these series come back to a playable online experience, and that doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon, if ever. I'm a long time motorsport enjoyer, but fairly new to sim racing, so please do correct any inaccuracies in what I've said!

Nice one Dave, very interesting video, I'm happy for you, and it's good to hear that rF2 has got something for the online racing folks. I always felt sorry for iRacers, deprived of the best feeling ffb known to mankind (😉) It's far from perfect, the UK takes some getting used to, but it's worth putting up with just for the driving experience. I hope the online side continues to grow and attract more people. It's got a ways to go to catch up with iRacing's streamlined online experience, but I don't think any other sim can get close to the feel of rF2 legendary ffb. Enjoy and I hope it works out for you in the long term. Happy racing.

1. I don't like paying a fee for track time and never really owning it. 2. Everything I buy on iracing (more like rent) , should also work totally with AI. They milk us too much $$ in my opinion. Even if you say , "well iracing is for the serious competitive online racer" I'll say, ok why can't I own it?

Great stuff. Can anyone find an Addon app to search key assignments ? It seems RF2 and AMS1 and 2 dont have this feature .... why ?
Almost all other sims I have played have this feature... DCS MSFS AsettoCorsa Irace...
I have 4 devices all called JOY# with assignments that i cant even search with Text - like "front wing". Frustrating

Rfactor 2 is not the prettiest girl in the pub but she goes hard and that's what matters!

I've recently gotten into iRacing because my new Fanatec wheel had a free 3 month trail attached to it. Although I've been enjoying the online racing, the driving itself feels so floaty. Coming from AC and ACC, it's something I'm really struggling with and really don't enjoy. Thats just not how real cars feel.
I'm really glad I found your video, because I likely won't invest anything into iRacing and rFactor2 seems like it could be right up my lane.

Lots of Very good and true points in this vídeo, now that you Just need a singles car, and the track to Race. Just made me jump into It, and its awesome. Only issue i had was the crashing on track load. But once It Works its awesome. And looks good now in DX11. The New interface is good as well.

I have the same feeling as you about iracing, I'm bored, this gt3 accession is frustrating, I've only been enjoying the tcrs in iracing today, they're fun and different from all the rest of the content, the gt3s didn't use them anymore a long time ago, my favorite was the porsche 991, since this new one is completely boring and the people that came with it are practically the same as those who run gt3, that made the races infinitely more boring for me. I have the rf2 but I think the content Expensive for me at the moment, but I plan to buy it soon

rFactor2 Is the best car sim out there

BIG NEWS UPDATE: rFactor 2 will let you play ONLINE race series WITHOUT having to own every car of the series.
They are working on the CODE and it will we released at the end of february.
So this might be the best option for simracing with amazing FFB. And this hobby will be extremly cheap as well.
