Can someone explain why the manual m4 is so much quicker!?

The F80 M3 with a good suspension setup runs circles around the G80 making it a far better proposition overall.

1) Better looking.
2) Much lighter and smaller.
3) Double clutch transmission.
4) Just better to drive.

The stock suspension on the F80 is lacking indeed which makes the car a bit unstable as it feels like it can't put its power down properly, however a good suspension transforms the car into a reliable rocket.

I cant believe Im saying this but the front of that car is growing on me....

The race bteween the E30 M3 and the Merc was a cheat. Jason bought this Mercedes back in Germany with a getrag dog leg and races an M3 with US specs and standard gearbox. Shame on you! lol

Personally, I'd still rather have the Mercedes, but that's just me. I prefer to drive automatics for my commuter cars and Mercedes designed their automatic transmissions differently than other manufacturers back in the day. They didn't bother with all of the fancy tricks that so many other brands use to get the transmission to work faster, they instead just opted to overbuild everything, give it very durable clutch packs and just fucking SLAM into gears under hard acceleration. And I appreciate that brute force approach, because it works.

Love the m3 but I’d not own one… way too finicky and costly to repair sadly. I’d take a 911 over it, they’re pricey to fix but crazy reliable from my experience working in a German import service shop. Maybe BMW has gotten better in the last decade but them and Audi… yikes.

I'll keep my Tuned C43 Estate which is just as fast as a M4 competition. With the Merc, you can turn off all the traction control and have fun.... So much fun!!!

This generation of M3/M4 has really grown on me, I'm almost ashamed to say I've started to really like them.

Hard to find 20 year old M3's with low milage in good condition. This is why I'm debating between an E92 and a G80.
