Back then, The Wizard was a fun movie for gamers in the late 80s-early 90s. However, nowadays it’s just a film that’s quite dated and isn’t exactly at the same level as the average coming-of-age movie.

I saw this as a kid soon as it was out on Pay Per View (luckily we didn't pay for it we were staying at an uncle's lake cabin and he had a black box that unlocked everything) and just found it depressing. Didn't watch it again until the Rifftrax for it came out, but even with the jokes it was still a little too depressing for me.
