World of Warcraft: Lich King Arthas Complete Story (2022): All Cinematics in ORDER [Full Movie]

This guy was a slaughter happy maniac. He wasn't corrupted by power, his cruelty and malice were revealed by his power. That is what makes him one of the best written villains in contemporary media. Any attempt of justification or redemption reduces the value and impact of his story.

I am actually glad they did not give Arthas a redemptive arc, and I like that he was reduced to a speck that faded away in the end. Arthas made his choices, and he was hardly a tragic hero or a sympathetic villain. He gave himself to evil willingly; Frostmourne just brought the evil forth. Especially when you read The Rise of the Lich King book, when he puts on the Lich King's crown, he deliberately murders the part of himself that was still good, leaving nothing but his evil side and the Lich King. Not every character that descends into evil deserves a redemptive story arc; sometimes, it is more interesting for them to fully descend into evil, and to see the consequences of taking that path. And to see him get reduced to an insignificant speck that fades into the wind is a fitting end for a character that chose the path that Arthas did. It is a good symbol of what evil ultimately does to the soul: it drains it away, devouring it until there is nothing left, and the person who chose the path is reduced to a wisp that fades and dies, unloved, forgotten, and insignificant. I liked it.

malfurion was ungrateful. if my brother sacrificed himself to save our home, I'd be devastated and would try to honor him, and help him find peace. Banishing Illidan made him into a monster, it wasnt the fel.

arthas wasn't wrong to purge the city though. at that point the grain infected everyone and there was nothign to be done for stratholme.

But if Arthas purged Stratholme, what's with all the Undead in WoW?

Can't make sense of it, people forced against their will and then made to take responsibility for it!? Seriously? I feel like they didn't think too deeply about this and just forced that conundrum to push the story to it's end. Made no sense at all.

I fucking hate the Sylvanas cutscene where she usher's Arthas's soul away. No, Arthas's name will remain as the best villain and villain arc in Warcraft's history, Sylvanas will be remembered as a true villain who was Marry Sued back to the good side with absolutely no narrative reason.

After arthas was defeated the storyline really became a clusterfuck.. so the jailer is the lich king??

I stopped watching just before Uther throws Arthas into The Maw. As far as I am concerned, Shadowlands never happened. The story ended as it should have years ago, and SL was just Activision beating a literal dead horse for money.

Its amazing that the story from Warcraft 3 has spanned for more than 20 years with most original characters still playing an important role. That is how good that writing was. Its shame that Bllizzard has given up on RTS games and focused on this RPG crap.

Great video, great job! Amazing story of a truely amazing game character. Sadly this shows how terrible Shadowlands was lorewise for both Arthas and the game in general GOT season 7+8 flashbacks.

Arthas is one of the most "lovable" villians of all time. His story is one of the greatest in gaming history imo.

After the lich king it went bad real fast. I miss the old dayz.

he was just trying to save his people.....
He was the antichrist.... and my god, i felt so bad for his troubled heart.

What people refuse to understand is... You will become different person the moment you kill your own. Arthas heart become even more blackened and he turn to evil path and no longer knows the different between saving his people or delivering them into the devil's hand. This is where the line between right and wrong blurred.

I think you missed the quest where you go under ICC and, guided by a child named "Matthias Lehner", find Arthas' frozen heart and then confront him with Tirion. There's a little cutscene there where he's like "Hey thanks for finding the last bit of my humanity, now I can destroy it and get even stronger."

Arthas did nothing wrong.

thank you very much for this movie! I admit to being confused on at least one point: what of the remains of Arthas' soul? did it cease UTTERLY to exist after being freed? or does some of it remain? I never yet bought the shadowlands expansion.. and that soul did play a part , it seems in the events following the Fusion of the two into one Lich King!

Arthas sacrificed himself for his people than whne he was cotrolled by Lich king he was an instrument of their destruction, and his family too, than he was used to forge a weapon for destruction of existence and cycle of life and death. Than he stopped even exist. That is so sad. I hoe Jaina will find a new love.
