What a show!
ОтветитьThe Galactica bridge was really incredible, especially when you consider the time that this was made. So much of it was functional. All of the computers, displays, etc., actually worked. The effects were not added afterward. Unfortunately the special effects of the Vipers, battles, explosions, etc., were increasingly recycled as the series went on. No CGI back then and all of those shots were very expensive to create.
ОтветитьMay you rest in peace Captain Apollo
ОтветитьIt is worth noting that in 1978, the upper end of the 25-54 television audience were people (or children of people) who lived through WWII. Space Nazis was an easy lift for the studio. They just had to modify some uniforms they already had on hand and hire some actors who knew the drill.
ОтветитьWow Devon Miles sure gets around doesn't he? 😛
ОтветитьThose 18 seconds from when Commander Adama orders "Battle stations!" & the bridge gets redlighted along with that incomparable "asymmetric" alert signal - loved em from The Time Of The Beginning! - & the music to go with have more ooh! anticipatory excitement than bushel basketsful of footage from that lameass feminized "remake," which scarce betrayed anything remotely space-like - though the less sight of that ridiculous giant armadillo masquerading as a battlestar the better - & more pedestrian Terran in its presentation [e.g. ordinary clothes &, for just 1, "William Adama," oh Great Caesar's Palace!]. In fact a story writer way back in 1979 was inspired thereby to, on penning a tale [in an excellent compilation that by itself would've made better movies] ] about ye olde Federation heavy cruiser Enterprise, describe that worthy vessel on similar alert as having "deep-red battle illumination," which gave me an affectionate lol moment rather than the sneers of contempt that every single Star Trick tv show [& the aforementioned 21st-century hack job here] has triggered. I can only wonder if it be a constellation [!] of factors by which that pitted-moonface Edward James Almost person, daring to be a new-age Adama, delivers such an underwhelming, anemic, sometimes barely audible performance, or was it the realization that he'd never equal, much less surpass, Lorne Greene who not only had originated that role but brought a "lived-in," "full-bodied" flavor to his Elder Statesman of the Stars interpretation. That whole outfit were a post office parking lot circus compared to the original [& ONLY] Battlestar Galactica, which certainly [unfortunately] had a bad deal of flaws in it, that oh how I wish could be attributed to penny-pinching by that stinking Mouse Outhouse, but that unholy union was 17 years later so it was all blind cheap abc's fault. So "here now is" [not the Jupiter 2] a perfect place to drop in my philosophy of "Some beats none!" but we still all wanted some more! Because just as with the last 2 episodes of Lost In Space, the utter ignominy of that cornball "The Hand Of God" being last call on the Galactica's quest is so undignified - no "battle stations!" bridge redlighting & the absolute STUPIDEST display, when Adama ordered the old gal to change course, of him, Colonel Tigh & that oddly cute little beady-eyed Omega suddenly tilting jerkily to port [which the Galactica with her tremendous size not only hardly would have done so that quick 🙄but they would not have at all (never mind that awesome stern view of the ship coming around), since otherwise everything & everybody onboard along the starboard side would also have gotten flung over Stage Left to certainly in some cases horrendous results], as gratuitous an exercise as never asked for or needed. Sigh. Well we have what we have & will not tire of it, like with Star Trek [1966-'69 that is, & no more], & having [mis]managed to tolerate a [very] little bit of that garbage heap "remake" that looks & sounds so thuddingly present-day, I will turn to the task of blowing that flat-Earth production to the atoms whence it came. And a hearty Daffy Duck style "No more for me, thanks!" of anymore such crap!
ОтветитьBootleg: Strategic Defense Initiative / Star Wars Program
Ascended: Colonial Defense Initiative / Galactica Program
OK, well, here I am, commenting again a year later. Here's another thing. How do the Galactica's lasers suddenly spread out and cover the entire planet? And, if they have such a powerful system, why don't they use it against basestars and obliterate the cylons?
ОтветитьSir, may I suggest that we make contact with their president before it is too late.
No! Lets try blowing the scumbags to bits again!
Turbo, turbo, turbo :)
ОтветитьBoost in Technology Eastern Alliance would be more than match for the Cylons!
ОтветитьIf I could binge watch all of season 1 of BSG I would.
ОтветитьI recall watching this episode when i was a kid, and it looked so close to the political news of the time, when the chance of a nuclear war didnt seem very far away
ОтветитьBothered me then, still bothers me now. The fleet is in desperate need of a home with supplies. They run across this totally habitable, developed planet and don’t stop here. They don’t know if they will ever even find earth. What is the difference between this planet and earth? At min wouldnt you offload the ships that were packed liked sardines. LOL.
ОтветитьWorst special effects ever. I hated what they did to Battlestar Galactica for the second season. It was awful.
ОтветитьI have a BG movie. It looks just like this, but yeah… different story. Is this from a TV series?
ОтветитьNo matter what this proves how evil a mustache is........ EVIL
ОтветитьThank god Picard wasn't there...
ОтветитьBattlestar meets Buck Rogers
ОтветитьOnce their uniforms went white this show jumped the shark.
ОтветитьI like the two Spaceballs behind the commander.
ОтветитьSave the Adama for yo mama.
Ответить“Alright we saved you from nuclear armageddon. Now have fun with the genocidal human hating killbots that are right behind us. Bye!”
ОтветитьCornball Galactica
Ответить... and Reagan said, "I'll take one of those please."
Ответить1978? holy sheet, how old is that series...
ОтветитьI bet Ronald Reagan saw this
ОтветитьAhhh, the old days.
When "Maximum Shields" was simply closing the Blinds on the window 😂
... it was a simpler time
позорная графика
Ответитьwhat does AHHHHH mean... i remember that
Ответитьwhere do I sign up to join the Slovakian....I mean the "EASTERN" alliance 😄
ОтветитьThis cameraman is awesome
ОтветитьSo Devon was mentoring Starbuck before Michael Knight? 🤣
ОтветитьIn the future you too can wear nice white suite and helmet in your fighter jet
ОтветитьDark suits: launch nuclear missile
Also dark suits: what kind of treacher are they up to? 😃😄
COOOLL!!!!
ОтветитьI loved the show and the Vipers. But MY GOD the visibility of that canopy in the rear arc is less than zero!!!
ОтветитьBetter call Hoss and little Joe. Loved his show as a kid still very cheesy
ОтветитьWhat you can do without a Prime Directive to worry about :p
ОтветитьThere was a crossover with BSG and Babylon 5. It was called Babylon Galactica.
ОтветитьWhen manhood rules pop culture😄
ОтветитьPOSITIVE SHIELD NOW!!!!!!!
ОтветитьAdama is such a boss in this scene. After Starbuck tells him what’s going on he doesn’t even waste one micron before acting decisively.
Even Commander Caine would’ve been impressed.
Why does he say positive shield look like blast door to me
ОтветитьLove the "S.s" Like uniforms.
ОтветитьThis iconic space series ,shape a generation of young people like no other series. The cast, special effects filled our imagination of our child hood ,even now we are all older it's legend carries on.who wouldn't love to pliot a vipor across the stars.
