Thanks Julia, I notice when you slap without a following pop your thumb bounces of higher away from string. When you follow a slap with a pop thumb stays practically on string. I assume in second case your thumb only comes of string enough to not mute? Thanks

Great video! I’ve watched several slap/pop technique tutorials and I didn’t get much from them. You have a great way of presenting your lesson that is clear and understandable for someone just learning slap pop. Thanks !!

I appreciate that you suggest slower tempos to begin with.

One of the best slap lessons I've seen! I'm just picking the bass back up after 40+ years. I've played guitar for 56 years, but only played bass in college. ('83), so this is great!

Hi. Thanks for the great tutorial! Got any tips for slapping on fretless? I'm especially having trouble getting the tones on the E string to ring out...they tend to thump dead. (I have new strings, quite light.)
Thanks!

Julia, I love you, thank you, thank you for this video, I'm taking classes but I see that my teacher gives us the technique a little quickly and doesn't give us this advice on how to bounce your finger on the string and how to practice it with different figures and notes. helped a lot

Great lesson, but I have difficulty slapping the higher three strings without touching the others. Any idea on how I can correct my thumb technique? I've tried all sorts.

Wenn ich slappe, habe ich immer das Problem, dass ich mit der Saite immer auf den Bund schlage.
Gibt es da einen Trick, oder ist es eine Sache worauf man einfach nur achten sollte?

Julia! This is a great video, I have played for a long time and always struggled with slap technique. I could never find a simple way to take it apart and learn it from the basic building block. You rock, thanks! Where do I find more?.

Thanks for the lesson. Do you need a P-Bass? I have a 5 string Ibanez (Fieldy K5) which is great for metal/hard rock/alternative. But the strings are closer together than what a 4 string P-Bass has which gives you less room to navigate the strings

If you use a pickguard cover with some foam under it like Jamerson and those guys did in the 60s would it work for fast slapping tecniques...?
