Honestly, I'm rather reassured by this - most of them seem very measured and reasonable. (The ugly oaf with the braces and fat arms aside.) Of course this may not be a representative sample, but Russians seem so much more civilised and better educated than they are given credit for in the western media.

I know these kind of street polls are not always representative but I found it reassuring how the majority of the younger interviewees were either supportive or at least ambivalent to LGBT+ people. A couple of quite worrying evil types in the mix but I'd expect that. One thing I did notice and I'm unsure if this was the meaning getting lost in translation, but the word 'choice' was used a lot, even in the supportive answers ie 'it's their choice'. I find it a little concerning whenever people frame homosexuality as a 'choice' but hey ho, we should be grateful for any level of acceptance in the current climate there. The interviewer was skillful and overall this video demonstrated the disconnect between the Russian gov't and the Russian people and the implied awareness that centrally led oppression of LGBT+ is problematic.

WOW, there is ALOT of ignorance in these comments. Things like "only if they do it at home in private" or "people are gay because of [bad] parenting" lol. The shocking thing is these aren't old, soviet grandparents espousing hateful views but young kids under 30. Things are so different here in the USA! In America we believe in individual freedom/liberty. Whoever you are we believe "live and let live" and not just regarding sexuality but in all aspects of your life lol

я в школу пошел в 1990 году в г москве в 6 лет в 3 классе парень из порарелного класса сделал камингаут это был шок на сколько он самоубийца его хотели порвать старшие младшие короче все кроме моей футбольной команды это пиздюки от 12 до 9 лет человек 15-20 мы на всю школу сказали если до него кто даебется тогда того кто доебался больше не будет.В команде были национальности .Русские.Татары.Армяне.Украинцы.Дагестанцы .И так по чему мы за него заступились 1.Он ни когда ни к кому не пистовал 2 Он очень смелый человек 3 Так надо было поступить или его бы не стало.кстати он ни играл с нами в футбол.
