Carlito’s Way (1993) 4K UHD Blu-ray Steelbook Review!

Got mine yesterday. Totally worth upgrading this one. It has HDR10+ as well for those with top end Samsung Tvs and Pansonic Tvs as well as DTS X.

Hey Adam, One of my all-time favorites doesn’t really get the respect it deserves it does a van tastic job of capturing the look and feel of the 70s one of Brian de Palma‘s best have a good one👍

Thank you. On my way out the door to pick up my pre-ordered copy right now. Remember being so impressed with this film which I bought on Laserdisk oh so many years ago.

1st off I saw this movie in 1993 and was disappointed with it and based on the box-office that weekend so were the fans. But I of course love the 2 main action scenes and have bought this movie on laserdisc, dvd and now 4k. The bluray didn't seem that big a deal from the dvd. What I did not do was buy the 4k steelbook because that artwork blows the big one.

One of my favorite movies. The 4K treatment made it look like it wasn't shot in 1993. Looks so good 👍 agree. DTS-X sounded great! Great video

I prefer Scarface over this one but it's so good movie. You forgot to mention Viggo Mortensen was in this as well. Expecting this 4K in the mail tomorrow. Thanks for the review

I played Grand Theft Auto: Vice City back in the day as well. However, it was only recently that I watched this movie for the first time. The moment this Sean Penn character appeared on screen, I immediately thought: "What the Hell? I know this character. Isn't there a character in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City that looks and acts just like him?" These were my thoughts before he had even said a single word. So, I paused the movie to look it up and I found out there is indeed a character in that game who's based on this Sean Penn character.
The fact I immediately recognised him by the way he looked, his appearance and his body language, even though I watched the movie for the first time almost twenty years after playing the game says a lot about how good they copied the whole appearance of Sean Penn's character.

carlito's way is one of my favorite films ever! I can't wait to see it again in 4k

1993 - CARLITO’S WAY (directed by Brian De Palma)

The story of a man coming out of prison, only to find that he is imprisoned by his association with a sordid past of violence and corruption. Without any question Carlito’s Way is an exceptional film and has been on my list of top films for a long time. But when I reviewed it recently after so many years of watching movies and seeing how film has progressed in look and feel, it is hard to keep this film on the exceptional list without elevating it to a higher status as an outstanding one! 

First, it is ageless and looks as modern as the most recent offerings from auteurs in cinema. Secondly the editing and careful detail to the camerawork is first rate and not seen in most great films since its release. Apart from the great character development and great dialogue and suspense; it is a compelling study of its subjects! This is a film that overshadows so many films before it and after it. It is one of De Palma’s finest hours and it seems effortless. This is genius!
