This is one of your best. Like a "best of." Love all your vids, they put me in a good place.
Ответить"Cool Million" is probably the only segment on the NBC Mystery Movie that I don't remember! I guess I was watching something else at the time.
ОтветитьI vaguely remember "The Men." "The Delphi Bureau" was the only segment that I liked in it because of its unconventional hero: Glenn Garth Gregory, a man with a perfect photographic memory! Whatever he reads or views in video form he remembers! Sorry that show didn't last!
ОтветитьI loved Kung Fu as a kid.
ОтветитьThanks RwDt109 for this memory jog through the early 70s. I read James Garner's autobio and still can barely recall "Nichols" There are many good (seemingly) ideas for series here--the settings, the personalities, but it really takes solid writing to keep a TV series going. The one job that never gets much credit is the producer. To gather the talent, green light every step of the way, and continue the thread going takes a savvy producer.
ОтветитьThank you so much for the reminder that there was GOOD TV in the '70s. I remember most of these. Comparing these with the "mediocre '70s" videos, one thing I notice is how much better the theme music is. It's distinctive and a little thought has been put into having the theme represent the show. The schlocky shows sound like they were all scored by the same (cheap) composer.
ОтветитьInteresting that you would include 4 short-lived sitcoms (The Paul Lynde Show, Lotsa Luck, Calluci's Department & The Partners) in this compilation. You also had Night Gallery & Search in the mix. Well done, sir.
ОтветитьLove these memories! I think Search anticipated the Internet and cell phones , in a way.
I really hope someone is restoring these great tv classics and preserving them in digital files for posterity. In 200 years, people will be able to see what we watched for entertainment.
I loved THE WALTONS, the opening music was great. ANd it also backfired on FLIP Wilson (Waltons basically cancelled him). And Sanford and Son suffered due to the success of the WALTONS.
ОтветитьRobert Forester is from my hometown Rochester NY
Ответитьf-ing John Boy in the House!
Ответитьflip and Geraldine Outa site
ОтветитьI know they changed Mary Tyler Moore's theme song to the one we all know and love during season 2 of the show but it's still weird to hear the season 1 version...and speaking of theme songs. is it just me, or does anyone else hear the ALL IN THE FAMILY theme song and think, possible campaign commercial for Trump?
ОтветитьI was a little slow about getting why a WHOLE LOT OF THESE SHOWS, WERE ALL PLACED ON THE WRONG NIGHTS! But then I realized that this is your programming fantasy! Thanks for listing these "Forgotten gems of 70s TV!"
ОтветитьSo many amazing programs. Growing up in the 70s we all watched them together, parents, kids, grandparents. Your family had ONE tv in the living room and that was it or go read a book or listen to your radio or cassette tape player.
ОтветитьGreat job, as always. I might have added "Sarge" with George Kennedy" and "Harry O" with David Janssen. I would have also tried to fit in "The Senator" with Hal Holbrook and "The Psychiatrist" with Roy Thinnes.
ОтветитьI had no idea Margot Kidder was in "Nichols." I just loved her -- and was so sad when she died in 2018. I always wished I could have met her. She is survived by family members, including her wonderful sister, Annie Kidder, who lives here in Toronto. Annie looks very much like Margot.
ОтветитьNice
ОтветитьThat episode of "Search" was a "Bewitched" reunion with David White and Maurice Evans....one of several programs with the word Search in the title....others have included the 1976 documentary series "In Search Of", a religious program entitled "In Search of the Lord's Way" and the long running daytime drama "Search for Tomorrow".
ОтветитьBoy, does Mary Tyler Moore look so young, and beautiful, R.I.P. Mary I still love ya'!
ОтветитьEveryone knows that Kung Fu was Bruce Lee's idea and feel like it should have been his role but try to picture Bruce Lee playing a contemplative and peace seeking monk . OMG , the show was saved not giving him the lead . He was a horrid actor .
ОтветитьI loved Columbo...."oh, and another thing"...
ОтветитьDAN AUGUST WAS STAR PACKED AND I NEVER HEARD OF IT
ОтветитьCan't wait for you to do Saturday morning cartoons.
ОтветитьGoodness I remember these shows. I remember well watching them. Thanks so much for showing them again.
ОтветитьSanford & Son! My favorite show of all time!
ОтветитьYou forgot Harry O
ОтветитьGreat Shows -
ОтветитьBanacek, Cool Million and Madigan over McMillian & Wife and McCloud? Oh well, I guess Madigan was popular in France LOL
ОтветитьJUST one more thing.. Holy Canoli 🦇man! 😳😲 A family show with values? Not today.. Thanks for posting..👍
ОтветитьLittle House of the Prairie 2 hours pilot movie aired March 30, 1974, and TV series began Sept. 11, 1974.
ОтветитьYou notice that some of this content has deteriorated greatly--"Delvecchio,," fór one
Today's idiot bean- counter media moguls don't care, though. It costs $.
They won't even let an expert perform that, gratis, for them....
Of course, our parents had controlled TV watching--"Mission Impossible," "Gunsmoke," "Kojak," "Cannon," MTM Show, "Jackie Gleason," 'Andy Williams," "Toma," "Petrocelli," etc
I got a big kick about their commentsry concerning the actors and acteesses
I saw ads for "Delclvecchio," "Dan August," "Banyon," "Madigan," etc
Frankly, I didn't know then that those actually later "failed."
The Odd Couple and Sanford and Son were hysterical, and I used to watch The Waltons almost religiously. I never watched much TV, but I did watch those shows!👍
ОтветитьThe waltons SUCKED.
ОтветитьJames farantino was a good actor..who was bisexual..still, a good actor.
