I cannot forgive the lack of patriotism at the 2021 Met Gala, Native American fashion deserves success and the one American flag dress was extremely dingy and tattered, we have come to A point where folks can’t describe what American culture is, my favorite look is Barbie Ferreira because pearls and her styling, Second favorite is Maisie Williams she looks like Evil Princess Lili from Ridley Scott’s “Legend” 1985, my least favorite is Jennifer Lopez’s look screams Halloween Pimp costume to me, although I do also love Lily Rose Depp and Lorde looks.

I was glad the presence of stars and stripes was at a minimum, but otherwise it was rather lame and boring. I loved Quannah Chasinghorse's look though. Indigenous designed and complete with Native made jewelry!
Ironically, that Eliza Doolittle inspired gown would've been perfect for the Gilded Age theme.

I think Blake Lively's 2022 look would've gone well with the theme. Though it would've been an obvious and surface level reference, the unveiled turquoise was very indicative of Lady Liberty. Despite being a modern take on fashion, tt would've done a better job than Taylor Hill's reference.

I think what makes Carolyn Maloney's outfit even worse is that she even referenced the women's suffrage movement in the way that she did. Not only does this blatantly disregard how exclusionary it was to women of color and other minorities, but the movement's ties with white supremacy at the time as well. The whole look just screams white feminism.

I do feel that the Met Gala has slowly come to represent media in America in general; it's dull. It's meant for making money, not art, and no one wants to risk making a splash for fear that it would be viewed as "too much". The best artists shine by being uninhibited, that's what art's about. Not everyone will get it, but your message will ring clear to those that count.

Perhaps the designers who are mostly European or influenced by European fashion don't particularly know what American fashion is supposed to be.

Also, I came up with a design. This would be inspired be 1950's "tail fin" cars. Instead of the cone bras in the front, it'd be in the back, like the tail fins and the front domes down to the waist, think the Jetson Robot Maid upper body but on a waitress style dress. The skirt will be boxy but have cut ends to look like a rocket blasting off. For the shoes, I want it to look like rollerblades inspired highheels but for the wheels it's in the Formica Boomerang design instead of wheels. The whole dress color could be in the teal color as it was in diner waitress uniforms and the tail fin cars. How none of the these desginers went to look for 50s fashion is a mystery to me.

If this is what a Native American designer can come up with, then by God, we need more of them brought into the spotlight because Quannah looked STUNNING!
