thank you so much for putting this up T0T I don't make furry art, but I DO make adult content, and it's unbelievably frustrating hearing people say that it's just a shortcut/of course you're gonna get attention, look at what you're doing--as if it doesn't take a ridiculous amount of skill to get to that point
I know I make good stuff, but because I've been posting consistently through all the various 🔞content bans over the 5+ years, I think I've been flagged by every major platform in some way. That, combined with the rolling algorithm changes everywhere and me needing to focus more on health than talking online, means that I'm barely getting into the double digits of engagement. It feels absolutely awful to have so many people go, "Wow, you're so good, you should do commissions," and have to sit there and explain to them the soul-crushing reality of being a small artist--that unless you get unbelievably lucky and/or you have friends who can boost you a bit, it seems like you need a year of intense focus on social media management bare MINIMUM to even be a blip on any kind of radar at all. So like.... Thank you for making this and focusing a lot on how impossible it is to rig the system the way people think (┬┬﹏┬┬)

Oh my gosh, this is such a fun experimental video! It's true that you need to have a large following or a become well-known artist in the community to get a large amount of commissions. I just started to open up commissions last month as a trial and was surprised by the demands, so I've been thinking of opening it for real this month.

My animator friends also introduced me to the world of furries, but unfortunately I don't have a fursona XD so anything works as long as it's an OC I believe.

i started drawing furries because i can't draw humans (or well, i can't draw human faces + it was the natural progression from MLP:FiM... which i've now returned to-)

now, i'm autistic and faces scare the living shit out of me.
i don't like em at all
furries work because they're essentially human bodies with a animal face, animal faces i can draw, boom, furry artist

Your life would have been much easier if you raised the line correction/stabilization!
It makes your lines not wobbly! 🫴✨️

If you want to improve your digital art alot instantly figure out how to turn on pen pressure, and stabilization. There's a setting on krita, so I suggest looking up a tutorial. It makes your lines look a lot better and closer to your lines on a piece of paper.

Been living off furry commissions for the last like...15 years?
Obviously when I was newer, I made less - nowadays I make about $21-23k/year. Trust me, that's a lot less than it sounds like, especially given it's my only source of income. lol

[EDIT]
I do draw explicit art as part of that living and there is nothing wrong with that, thank you very much :/

I done furry art before no one really cares for my art irl money I made 80 something dollars in two years and ten because my friends felt bad for me. as a artist I feel stuck mainly because I sit here and wonder what's the point if I won't be able to survive or even go to the college I wanted (I couldn't) I was really looking forward for my art to grow :(( never did 7 likes gang 4 life

I’m curious why furry artists don’t have 3D grey box models that they then sketch over and clean up? Like shaven furies are pretty easy to sculpt, so ur just drawing fur over the grey box pose…. That would be a good process.

(But maybe it’s being practiced in 3D more so than 2d art).

You know the best part of this video? The fact that you're clearly having fun with it. This was funny as hell, and I'm pretty sure it only worked because it felt like I was laughing with you, rather than at you.

Which is good, because your first couple pictures were so bad they'd make for a great Stephen Lynch song.

I also approve of those memes no one got, because of course the guy making a joke about Stephen Lynch would.

I was on deviant art for a while posting my drawings, never got much attention. I've created an account drawing a bit of hentay of a very specific kind, got flooded with attention, people were insanely kind to me, then got another account drawing furry but nothing sexual, just a bit of Zootopia fan fiction, got many people there as well, but the hentay thing is unbeatable as far as attention goes.
It just wasn't for me tho, I want to draw things that make me proud of my art.

Relatively new artist here and boy, that impostor syndrome bit hits home hard, cannot count the number of times someone has complimented my art and my brain is convinced I've just been straight-up lied to lol

I definitely think your progress over the two months, ESPECIALLY going from not just physical art to digital but digital on a non-screen tablet, is really awesome, and that along with the willingness to ask for help on technique/for critique from friends is indicative of a really good mindset for improving your art if you stick with it!

I'm a digital artist, and for me, I can NOT use a tablet that isn't a tablet monitor. The disconnect between my hand and what I can see on screen is too much to deal with. So I know exactly what you mean there.

an easier way to transition from physical to digital art is by instead of going for full digital, drawing a sketch on paper and taking a picture of it and importing it to do digital lineart! if you end up trying to do more art-based things that may help
