Bro is anti spartan as much as he's pro Iran I mean persia
ОтветитьWhy was a fictional racist African ethnostate included on a list about Greek and Roman mythology?
ОтветитьThese wokeists really see racism in everything. Now "300" is racist and displays white supremacy, wtf. Spartans arent even white. Just searching and creating everywhere racism, its honestly pathetic and kinda like a mental illness.
ОтветитьSomebody has an agenda.....
ОтветитьWhile it's no excuse for the overt racism inherent in the depiction of the Persians in 300 (2007), you COULD argue that, in-universe, the Spartans have a very racist view of the Persians and the depiction of them as these inhuman monsters is simply meant to be how the Spartans view them. It could be an example of Deliberate Values Dissonance, essentially. Now, this trope is difficult to employ, because how much of the ugliness of an era do you incorporate for accuracy until you, the creator, are accused of being racist? There's a fine line there and not everyone can walk it.
ОтветитьLove this. I get soooo annoyed with all these inaccurate representations of ancient mythology I can barely watch these movies. It’s cringeworthy.
ОтветитьMy world history professor in college spoke often of the absolutely dehumanizing portrayal of the Persians in 300, no one in our history department is a fan of that movie honestly, but he had quite a striking take on the way Frank Miller placed his own white supremacist and nationalistic views upon the Spartans even though there is no historical basis for any of it. Too many people I know, specifically film buffs, love that movie and don’t understand the damaging stereotypes it continues to perpetuate about non-Western, specifically Middle Eastern and West African people, to this day. I know it’s not a super recent film, but the film industry should be working to fix those harmful stereotypes, not continue to praise works with incredibly damaging portrayals of entire groups of people
Ответитьwhy is this reactions turning into a woke political lecture?
Ответить"we dont see racism in the ancient sources" 😂 this guy is chatting some rubbish
ОтветитьI really wanted him to address that all of these period movies based in Roman and Greece are depicted with English accents. WHY?? why dont they have Greek or Roman accents?
ОтветитьWhy is he making this woke 🤦🏻♂️
ОтветитьThanks for the accuracy re 300.
ОтветитьWho said we're brown?
ОтветитьI bit strange how he talks about the Mediterranean, especially Mediterranean Africa and keeps relating Wakanda and Greece and Rome. I don't really get it as Wakanda, at least in the Marvel universe, is well south of the equator. I know it sounds nit picky, but when he's trying to make point that we view Africa incorrectly and one of the major cliches is that tbe West views Africa as one big country and culture, it's not helping his pov.
Ответитьseriously this guy is rendered an expert?
ОтветитьIts funny how he calls 300 racist and uet loves black panther which promotes ethnocentrism and has some pretty negatove steroetypes of Africans
ОтветитьI never thought that the Persians were being degraded. It's not a historical account, it's a campfire story told by an imaginative soldier. He's telling a horror story to his fellows in order to inspire them and to make the king as heroic as possible.
ОтветитьLiberal tard
ОтветитьSo 300 is white supremacy? Ok
ОтветитьI like this guy!!! He gets it!!
ОтветитьThis bloke Peter actually rules.
ОтветитьDid the Spartans fight in the shade ? 😅
ОтветитьIt was going fine until the white supremacy card was played
ОтветитьFinding out Hercules and Pegasus are not actually connected in mythology is what hurt me the most growing up.
ОтветитьThe wokest video I've seen in a while
ОтветитьHad to inject politics into it, no thanks.
ОтветитьHow many occasions to bring up modern superwoke observations in historical analysis…
Absolutely unprofessional and no historian that talks like this can be trusted with objectivity.
Another occasion to push modern extremists politics exploiting the fascination with past cultures.
Dishonest
exactly, portrayal of Persians is racist
but also, completely innacurate
persians were described by ancient Greeks as pale as women
so movie, if anything, should've portrayed greeks as brown, and persians as yt
As a classics grad, I am in love with this video. I saw 300 in theaters and when friends began to ask me questions about it, I literally said the same thing this professor did: "where do I even start?!" 😅
ОтветитьOh great another fairy professor, its just a movie and Persian were dark skin. Relax, its a movie, not racists.
ОтветитьNobody ever mentions the huge flaw in the Medusa myth. It was said you could not gaze upon her without turning to stone. Perseus does just that. That mirrior shield wouldn't have saved him. He would still have looked at her reflection which is still her and thus should have turned to stone according to the myth. Everybody misses that to this day. Which proves that people are unable to pay attention.
ОтветитьIt always bothers me that 300 is judged as a historical film. It's a comic book movie, based on a Frank Miller graphic novel. Zak Snyder was bringing those pages to life, not the history books.
ОтветитьVery little commentary on the movie. Much more preaching his view on society.
ОтветитьThat’s fine but we must remember the originals or the oldest versions we’re aware of so we don’t loose them . Everyone thinks Medusa is some victim today and that version isn’t even Greek
ОтветитьGlad he called out 300 on the racism
ОтветитьI never expected this to be this enlightening!
ОтветитьVanity actually got this guy by asking for the most Woke person possible
Ответить"attacking the capitol" lol sure...
Ответитьguy is a loser
ОтветитьNow we need the other 9,999 videos of him reacting to movie mythology.
ОтветитьLove the history but hate the constant political views
ОтветитьComparing Hercules to the black panther was pretty funny. I enjoyed everything else said, but that was a reach lol
ОтветитьWould love to see more of him. I'm a history freak. I liked this a lot.
ОтветитьI love this professor’s attitude
ОтветитьThank you very important info here
ОтветитьYou involve racism? Ok thats enough..
ОтветитьHa ha ha ... at the beginning no woman would ever give back her necklace
(especially if it was worth anything) because it's hers, hers, hers !!
That little detail had not changed since ancient times ...
Black people been saying this for generations… like we know nothing of our ancient history but even one else does. 🙄
