Come to think of it, the roll would be significantly heavier than usual.

I’m not saying people do it for this reason, but if I were to ever figure out how to plate coins or any type of metal, I would do it just for the simple fact of drawing attention to currency. I’ve recently got back into coin, roll hunting I moved to a new area and very few bankers or even at my dump location know very little about our coins. I almost always take the time to explain how every now and again you can find a quarter that’s worth about five dollars. just because it’s silver. I also explained that there’s other variations but everybody understands some degree precious metal.

I think you’ve been doing this long enough to know that it was gold plated. Anything for content though!

That would s cool, btw is there such thing as a 2008 Denver penny but the Denver has an error where it’s very faint, it’s wierd

Could it be gold plated 90% silver proof? I got a quarter the other day that is gold electro plated but it's a 90% silver proof someone took out of a proof set.

Believe it or not, some coin shops will give you a buck more for them sometimes because of the plating.
