My family moved away from hoboken when I was younger in 1977-78, We lived on Park Ave.
& I can remember the View from the across the hudson of the Twin Towers.
*When it was going to rain the air would smell like Maxwell House coffee.
*Mr Softee
* The Statues inside the church of Our Lady of Grace
* Playing at Steven's Park
* The massive Snow Blizzard ( I can't remember what year it was)
In todays time, I wouldn't want to live in Hoboken because it looks like it's a full of yuppies, and stuck up liberals & it doesn't appear to be alive with the mix of people from different cultures From when I lived there.

How could Harry Hudson lay claim for the land that Was already pretty well occupied?
Every time I hear the history about some democrat white guy who had took (stolen) the land from the natives who had rightfully owned, I wish that I could go back and time and fight for the natives & give them back this County which is Native Land.

These native American's historians say they origionated from the Pacific Northwest. Saying that they "put out the campfires" of the Missippian Moundbuilders civilization... The Quaker William Penn mentions this in his autobiography which I have in my library...

Left out WWII period when the Germans and their shipping companies were thrown out. And it took ten years or more of citizen activism to establish the waterfront parks.

You mentioned how Hoboken was surrounded by the Hudson on the east and tidal marshlands to the west. This reminds me of Island Heights in Toms River, which is an elevated island surrounded by the Barnegat and tidal marshlands.

It should be noted that these people were neither native nor American. These people did not just sprout up out of the ground and instead arrived from somewhere else and claimed the land as theirs. The only difference between the first squatters and the western men was the method used to arrive. Since the narrative of "native" is false, there is no reason to lament the passage of weak people for stronger ones. This is how history is made. The weak disappear.

great video, but i'd like to know your source for the claim that hoboken has "the highest public transportation use of any city in the united states". every list i could find has new york city listed as number one (as is to be expected), and moreover, hoboken wasn't even on the list. i did find a list where jersey city was number two, but could not find anything about hoboken.

The title stated Hoboken is no longer an island but the video did not tell us anything about that. Titles should reflect content not just be CLICK BAIT.

Came 9 years ago to hoboken and it was more or less a dump compared to most European cities. But I have to admit that there has been a big improvement since then. The last two mayors are probably the reason for this.

The West Midtown Ferry is where the ferries from Hoboken go for the cruise ship lines to the Bahamas and other Carribean islands. Passengers use it to pay for tickets for their upcoming vacations overseas. A great view of that is the light rail interurban streetcar line going to Union City by the Hudson River.
