The daughter of the victim brought me to tears. What she said was remarkable, in this day and age with the cynicism of society. I am an ordained minister and I ask God to give her and her family, peace. I also will pray for the defendant.

Michael sounds mentally ill. He is about the age the things like schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder can kick in. Methamphetamine can cause the same kind of symptoms and it sounds like he was using drugs. Mum used drugs with him? That is horrible. I truly do not believe any victim should be allowed to claim they were speaking God's words. It is not a time to preach religion to an offender. It is a time to explain the impact on the victim. This was so inappropriate.

So this is what happens when the people who are responsible for a child’s safety don’t act when they see a problem. CPS can’t act without evidence, and they don’t have the legal right to enter a home without parents’ permission. On top of that they have to weigh risk against the damage they do separating kids from their parents, their home, the world they know. Don’t have a kid unless you are healthy, know how to parent and can financially support them.
