I think the Blades of Chaos did not lose its powers because Kratos still is the God of War, likely as a result of the absorption of his Godly powers in the end of God of War II from the Blade of Olympus. He eventually learned to use that power in other ways, hence how he is able to activate his Spartan Rage powers. It’s also possible to assume that when Zeus’ Astral Form drained Kratos of his Godly powers that it severed Kratos’ link to his older abilities for good, and when Kratos killed sacrificed hope to save Greece, the power he wielded as the God of War returned to him. Also I somehow believe that at some point, Ares had a better relationship with Hephaestus. They’re both legitimate sons of Zeus, and Ares only rebelled against Olympus at some point before the siege of Athens.

I had my own theory where I thought that the blades themselves were forged in Greece but the power in them weren't and where really from another pantheon possibly Christianity since it was confirmed that it's a part of the god of war universe and would be the reason why they didn't lose any of their power.
