What a lovely person Annabel seems.
ОтветитьLove this episode!! But mics need to be fixed 😅
ОтветитьOnce again folks - it’s not what you know it’s who you know
Ответитьlove the journey. keep pushin ❤
ОтветитьLegend 💪🦋🦋💙💪🌶😎🔥🔥
ОтветитьThanks for the eye opener about the DJ world,it helps knowing the info about the journey,..I’m prep, prep, prep at the moment,.looking to break out next year.
ОтветитьDear Annabel, hope you understand what’s written on your sweatshirt. Next time please make a better choice. As I can say by the text on your sweater, you support crime, hate and prison guys… I hope you just didn’t know…
ОтветитьHave lots of followers and play slow boring music below 150 BPM 😂
ОтветитьGood on her, very inspiring 🙏🙏🙏
ОтветитьIt's kind of wild how fucked up podcasts like this have the culture. They never talk about music outside of this random goo they just happen to dispense, it is all about money and branding opportunities. This is exactly why dance music is in the toilet right now.
ОтветитьFair play. Annabel has capitalised on the power of social media to build a career and a following which is the route in these days. It’s always been about who you know to give you a leg up - but that goes for any career really… if you don’t have an ‘in’ it’s hard but still doable…
Not a huge fan of her tunes/genre but she’s clearly worked hard and put the hours into learning to Dj.
Good luck to Annabel
OMG Legend !!
ОтветитьTalk about a journey. Thanks for sharing and inspiring. 🫡
ОтветитьI wonder what kind of other credit social media DJs would have if we take out social media, certainly most of them would not cut it out on the musical or technical knowledge side, kinda sad actually, then again, its what people choose to support... Good old days are gone for good by now...
ОтветитьAnnabel, I appreciate your story sharing of how your DJing career launched, especially about quitting your salary job.
ОтветитьThank you for your talk, this was great. Some people may say, fake it to make it, I say practice, practice and practice, then just take a deep breath and jump in. Make your dreams come true.
ОтветитьMy insecurity doesn't come from posting or building the brand. It's simply the fact I know I lack the producing skills to make it long term and feel like a fraud. Getting booked is easy.
ОтветитьClubs booking on followers has'nt been good for the scene.
ОтветитьI absolutely loved this podcast, I am a beginner DJ and this gives me hope and makes me feel ok about where I'm at. Thank you ❤
ОтветитьGood luck to her ..respect
ОтветитьOh yes. Soundcloud and Bandcamp are a treasure trove of music.....it also helps to know music from 30+ years ago to stretch your know and creativity....the majority of my sets are music from these platforms and then throw in an original to keep it real....
ОтветитьAnnabel, I just love your spirit and positive mindset, and I also recognized myself in that moment I quit my 9-5 job to go full time into music :))) and your souncloud refs blew my mind !!! Tera Kora, indeed love these vibessss
ОтветитьI remember back in lockdown when Annabelle was streaming on Twitch and the we was all setting off the "Hype Train" with Bits taking it up to level 5 She was literally crying with all the support, she couldn't speak, not like Annabelle :)
ОтветитьThank you for this interview with this amazing guest, her authenticity is so refreshing!
Ответитьlist of the producers she was mentioning
ОтветитьWhat an annoying guy, constantly interrupting her. Absolute stain
ОтветитьBig up ❤ good info , i started DJ 1985 🎉
ОтветитьIts pretty easy with an instagram following and it isn't until this swelling boner over ...ehm..."what sells" goes down that cats with 23 years of experience and a few dubplates written will start to have more opportunities like this come their way. I sure af know it doesn't happen fast. Not this fast and there is only two reasons why nobody wants to mention. The saturation and what sells tickets.
Its why we see guys having to hump the mix lab on camera just to get people's attention, and attention is all its really about anymore, which is quite narcissistic. Its not about the music anymore. Back then, nobody but djs or aspiring ones paid attention to the booth. Food for thought.
Love her t-shirt. Where can I get one?
Ответитьthis has inspired me to upload a remix banger ive made & not worry about the copywrite....what could possibly go wrong lol
ОтветитьThis is Awesome podcast with @annabelstopit
ОтветитьSort her mic out!! What’s all that crackling noise
ОтветитьThis interview is a perfect example of being consistent and also lucky to be at the right place at the right time. Imagine getting gigs without even knowing how to read a crowd? That's just pure luck and great branding. So take note marketing comes first then comes your skills. Also, this is probably easier if you're a female these days.
ОтветитьShe needs to make OF!
Ответитьwho is she? never heard
ОтветитьYeah, yeah. Yep. Yeah. Ohhhhhh, Yeah. Yep. Ye Ye Ye. eH Ehhhhh. <3
ОтветитьI think the only real way forward is to also produce music. DJing is truly only half of the career, producing is the other half. DJs are a dime a dozen, as well as producers. Being both sets you that much further ahead of the crowd.
Another thing is if you’re not standing out in a niche, you’re likely not standing out (think of Jack of master of none). Claptone might be the one to pull this off, but because he’s all over, I don’t typically listen. Personally, I follow artists for the music and vibe they push. If you do it all then you’re likely not on my radar. Underground or bust!
I dont know if the audio is clipping but there is a clicky sound when they talk, specially annabel. I didnt notice for like 10 mins, but once i heard it, could not stop hearing it the whole time
ОтветитьI wasn’t familiar with Annabel career. Her honesty, dedication gave me a breath of chance, light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for being there, and being Example for many of us that dreams is not that far just have to fight, and work for it! Good luck there best of wishes!🫵🫶
ОтветитьLove you, guys! And thank you so much for what you are doing. I'm 40 and on a swift career change from interpreting to DJing and production, and I really get cold feet sometimes when I think where it's gonna take me! :) Guests like this are VERY inspiring!!!
ОтветитьThis video was overall helpful but just makes me miss the old ways of how creatives in the scene would organise themselves. Not necessarily their fault, but it just seems so synthetic towards the art of mixing music - that a good portion of this video was just talking completly about social media traffic.
We need to evolve backwards into the ways of a spaces where, nobody knows the dj, insane tunes and a banging soundsystem and the right people gathering together.
I fucking love mixing and playing to an audience but the shit storm that revolves around that these days is nothing but hedonistic for the lack of a better term.
I'm not pessimistic (as much as it sounds like it) but we truly are disconnected from the source of MUSIC and creating authentic safe atmospheres that bring like-minded people together.
Hi yeah I've been djing for 2 years.... 😂 you are not a Dj you are a social media whoever with a good marketing team. This is cultural for some of us and seeing this kind of thing where it's all about the $$ and marketing and other non Dj shit. Anyway I see an implosion of this branded poop. Stick with the people who care so much about it all they have done their adult lives is music. Not "I had to pay the rent" so I became a Dj. That's just disrespectful.
Ответитьnigga! let the girl do the talking? why you invited her if you will stop her and you know all better?
WTF!
Doing the more commercial stuff may not be one’s thing, but, aside from the money, it really teaches one to read a crowd
Ответитьthe t-shirt slogans though... russian speaking people would see this..
ОтветитьSome salty men in here...LOL things just never change.
ОтветитьDefinitely my favorite interview of the year! She’s a beast!
ОтветитьThis is motivating as a dj starting out this helps so much to learn to be proactive to achieve the dream. I have been djing for a couple of years but having a full time career and trying to have a goal of a dj career is extremely tough. Thank you @annabelstopit
