you don't get fish to take the hook because of the way you are baiting it. You don't want t the bait way up the shaft of the hook, you want the bait in the bend of the hook with just the point and bard showing, you will set the hook on way more biats if you bait your hooks like this

One time I was fishing along the shore line and the water was so clear I saw 2 five pound bass swimming and I threw a worm in and caught one

I caught a trout on checken luver. Obviously I was targeting catfish.

Caught tons of trout on semi frozen cooked shrimp, but bigger than cocktail shrimp. I keep em in the freezer until I go fishing. Warm one in my hands to soften it just enough to get the hook in.

Awesome that you gave us a little insight on how trout react to different types of bait... One thing I would recommend is going to a braided line so you can feel the bites it would've send shock waves to your pole and you know when to set the hook...

Might want to try a different brand of hooks or learn how to set them.

I use plastic bait, power bait is good too, corn is one of my fav though aye :)

Trout cannot digest corn so you're killing fish when you fish with corn kernels. It's ridiculous to fish with corn whenever you could easily use worms or other things that will digest and not kill the fish. There are masters of robbing bait from a hook and if it will not digest it's a slow death I suppose. Also things like marshmallows and other things that will not decompose for long periods of time that are loaded with preservatives I suppose it's a problem also
