lt engine is 18436572 were you mistaken and because that looked like n ls maybe you cornfused the latter and former fire orders? i like the indepth description of your headers. on the it engines the whole equal length thing was evaluated and i do see the use of the impulse to help charge the next cyl. thats why i stoped by for a view even with 40 some years of engine building and a little experience with small block chevy....i think chrysler too used that on the 318 ....but these are no longer in production and prob why your unfamiliar with the order

It’s all sound but less power. That’s why they are rarely used.

Sounds awesome, makes power, BUT it l ooks like it will heat up the bottom of the oil pan/engine significantly. Not good for anything other than a full time drag car. Bummer.

VERY INTERESTING but r u goin to incorporate some new motor mounts on the plate engine mount thing cuz NVH will be crazy on a solid mount wont it?

That sounds horrible! It reminds me of the new ZO6 which also sounds like crap. The perfect sounding flat plane V8 is found in the Shelby GT350 with its 5.2l Voodoo engine.

This is the hard way. You can achieve a nearly identical sound by replacing your y-pipe with an x-pipe into a true-dual exhaust, meaning that out of the x-pipe are two separate pipes that dump wherever you will be dumping the exhaust. The x-pipe + true duals will also help with high RPM HP production. Another option is the h-pipe + true dual pipes, which will retain the "classic" V8 sound, boosting lower frequencies and improving low-end performance. If you primarily use your car for cruising then the H-pipe is the smarter option unless you really want your V8 to sound italian.

@jetdigital

Thats not a 180 degree header exactly.
Tube length is off a little.

I ran that semi 180 header style on my 1987 Corvette decades ago. It wasnt connected to the other side like yours. It was a 4 into 2 into 1 then the 2 sides connected to a single 3 inch pipe.

It sounded more like the bug.

But they tied it to a close by cylinder on the same side rather than the opposite cylinder.

I guess they used the pipe length to match pulses. Pretty trick stuff.

It was made by Ed Hamburger ( no kidding) SLP engineering in Tom's River NJ I think. It was called the 4 into 2 into 1 stainless steel header kit.

The Canadian NASCAR unlimited modifieds would come down from Canada and treated the crowd to 20 or more of those 180 cars with over the back exact length 180 headers.
The magnetos where right next to the pipes. Before crankmtriggeting. .???

Odd they thought of headers but not crank triggering evolution I guess.

It was the most wild sounding 350 engines ever. Everyone would fill the stands that night.

Listen up dying racetracks

180° Headers male more power!
It's what I call Free HP, nog that building a set isn't expensive, they are but they make power through making your engine more efficient, most power adders have a trade off, big cam, low vacuum and no lower dnd power etc etc almost all power adders cost fuel.milage, Not 180° headers or anything makes engine more efficient and these make an engine considerably more efficient. Remember Pantera DeTomoso's? They had the highest HP small block ever built, the 351 Cleveland but the Pantera also had 180° headers and I read way back 50 years ago they added 22 HP plus, an exotic car sounded exotic.
My dad's friend had One I rode in many times, that mid engine winding up.was glorious!
Anyway, a super simple way to explain it is it almost does exactly what a 180° crank does, have you heard the Ford 5.2? Same Sound but you can do that on a 90° engine without the super high buck crank

Forget the turbo. Leave the exhaust alone. Go centrifugal or roots style blower. Don't forget to gap the rings and slightly lower the compression. 🎉

Also looks like a great deal of heat directly under your oil pan which I’m sure does not help anything with the longevity or reliability of your engine.

If you want good sound in a car, forget making expensive hard to fit exhausts where the sound is only fully appreciated outside the car or in a tunnel and concentrate on the induction that’s what Yamaha did with the LFA. Also of note is Mazda’s rotary Le Man’s car that has variable length intake trumpets, that’s what you should work on, not a mess of pipes that you can barely fit in the car and are not Street legal
