I agree with them being over priced. I visited an outlet store for both my Celestograf and Museum and paid around $200 each. Way better than the $800 sticker. Even gray market isn’t that good!
ОтветитьAre they trying to compete with Ebel and Nivada? Because if it is so, they better embrace before the impact!
ОтветитьA diver with only 5 atmos-rate is dissapointing. Other than that, yhey look nice and being swiss the price isn't very steep. The movement might be a ETA 2824 modified?
ОтветитьI would say that these are definitely overpriced.
I was able to make out on one of the movements was definitely a Seilitta SW-200, not sure if they all are.
That dive style watch only has 50m WR. Shows that it’s really a fashion watch. Most of these are more about looks then function definitely not my thing.
For these prices, so many more interesting watches that I think are much better values.
Macy's has the green version of the Calendoplan for 885. I like it!
ОтветитьI thought they were owned by the fossil group so that movement is probably the stp 1-11
ОтветитьOverpriced Tat…
ОтветитьI still think that if it was my money I would be looking at Oris or Longines I'm still not sold on Movado at all.
Interesting video though.
Another solid video! Keep up the good work bro!
ОтветитьJust not convinced by the brand. For the money there are so many other good (better?) options. Well worth doing the video to kick off discussion 👏👏👏
ОтветитьMy fav - and the one Movato that is tempting - is the Museum Red Label 38mm. Fun 80's deco / Egyption vibes :)
Great round up!
That blue dial piece looks great!!
ОтветитьId rather save up and buy omega speedmaster then buy a Movado
Ответить5ATM for a near grand for a watch, ouch! Don’t know much about this brand admittedly, but doesn’t strike me as something I would pay that much money for. Thanks for the video, learning more about other brands all the time. This one doesn’t speak to me, but your videos do! Thanks m8
ОтветитьSome of those pieces don't look too bad, definitely overpriced as far as retail goes. Thanks for the video brother!
ОтветитьThey are certainly better value [except that 2,4k model[ than their quartz range but none of them tickle my pickle .and would never consider buying either .
ОтветитьI like Movado, but the prices have been a serious issue over the years. I worked at Kay's Jewelers and most of my customers would go for Bulova instead because of variety and reasonable price. Grey market for sure!
ОтветитьFirst of all, glad to meet another enthusiast who likes Movado! It was actually the beauty of a vintage Movado museum classic that first got me into the hobby! I do think it's a shame that nowadays, Movado has primarily sold out by focusing on fashion over their rich history of design and quality. Both their quartz watches and their automatics are nice, but as you say very overpriced. Personally, I like targeting the secondary market for deep discounts
ОтветитьOuch at the prices. 😕 It's a competitive price range for sure and Movado isnt the first brand that comes to mind if I want to buy a new watch.
ОтветитьSome good pieces bud 😁👍 but I agree the quartz models are definitely overpriced. And I'm almost positive they use Sellita movements 😉🍻
ОтветитьToo bad someone did not lend you some Movado Autos for this. It's way different having then in your possession. Good video brother. As a Movado fan and having vintage and modern one of quartz they are great. Obviously never pay retail. I want an automatic but ther are way to much money. Have to assume ETA movements in them. Keep up great content brother.
ОтветитьThanks Joe
I don't think I'm a buyer at these prices.
5 ATM on a diver? Why? Especially at that price range, seems a little chintzy
ОтветитьMan, that Heritage Series in black with the fauxtina looks good, but I have seen enough of the depreciation these things take so I would only consider buying pre-owned. I think my main issue with Movado always has been, for the money, I would rather have so many other options out there. Great vid bro! 😎🍻👍
ОтветитьVery nice
ОтветитьI like the 1881, 39,5 mm model with the blue textured dial best - the rest doesn´t speak to me at all. I think True 2022 puts it right by saying " none of them tickle my pickle and I would never consider buying either" .
ОтветитьI agree with you that the quartz movements are way overpriced. A few of the automatic movements are outrageous but a few I found to be fair. Great video. I don’t see anyone else doing this topic. Nice work!!!
ОтветитьBought a Movado a long time ago. Would never buy another Movado and wouldn't even take one for free. I don't straight up dislike a lot of brands but I hate Movado. I hate their marketing techniques, their pricing, their quality, and just about everything else about them. For the same price you can get into Hamilton, Oris, Ball, Seiko, or Longines.
ОтветитьStock images don't do them justice. I don't pay retail for them, but they are a solid value at the outlet store prices.
ОтветитьIf they sold them for what they are truly worth then yeah its fine but pricing a watch at 1 or 2k and discounting it 60% makes it a brutally awful buy
ОтветитьA Dive “looking” watch with unknown “swiss” movement, only 5 atm for $800? You could get several 200 meter automatic divers with Japanese or Swiss movements. No thanks
ОтветитьI just bought a 1881 I personally love it the movement is a ETA 2824-2
ОтветитьBlack Friday deals on an outlet is the best price I've gotten on a brand new watch
ОтветитьThey’re always on sale
ОтветитьMovado quartz watches are actually very well built and they use ETA's higher end movements. They last a very long time and very thin. I like their classic museum watches and you can find them with good discounts on the grey market.
ОтветитьLooks like Movado is trying to step their game up! But the price is still a bit high and they don’t hold any value.
ОтветитьMy husband just bought me 2 movado. They are beautiful.
ОтветитьAny quartz watch is a waste of money...including Rolex and Cartier
ОтветитьCould I know the thickness of Movado Vizio automatic (44mm diameter)?
ОтветитьI don't think the calendoplan is a divers watch, there is an automatic diver on their site, series 800,200 M water resist.
ОтветитьAluminum bezel is a joke for 900
ОтветитьMovado is like that gorgeous 80s model that was extremely high maintenance, but the looks faded and is really not worth it nowadays.😁
ОтветитьMovado watches are beautiful but their power reserve is a joke, 30 to 40 hrs at the most. If I pay 2000$ for a watch, I want at least 72-80hrs power reserve. This is something Movado refuse to do or unable to do. The quality of the watch is amazing for the price though, specially the quartz ones.
ОтветитьTheir movements are not gold plated and I am not happy about their cost cutting.
ОтветитьIts got no numbers on it... i got a waych right here, paid 3.99 for it, and its even got a calculator...
ОтветитьIf you take a better look through the display back on the autos you'll see "SW 200-1" marque along the movement edge by the balance wheel. That's the maker's marque for the Sellita SW 200-1 movement, a 26 jewel ETA 2824-2 clone. Movado, like many others now, are using their own movement caliber numbering instead of using the movement manufacturer's caliber number -- to obscure what movement they're using. The watch snobs would turn their noses up at it not being an ETA -- notwithstanding the fact that Movado cannot get ETA movements at any price. The Movado quartz watches are grossly overpriced. The autos with the Selltta are (IMHO) overpriced, but not nearly as much as their quartz. The price points on their autos with the Selitta SW 200-1 inside aren't completely out of line with the high end of some other known brands. Come to your own conclusions. Now you know what Movado is using . . . and you should ALWAYS be able to find the movement maker's marque by the balance wheel. That's the first place a watchmaker will look when preparing to work on a mechanical movement.
ОтветитьI bought two in my past and they miss function a lot . Garbage 👎
ОтветитьWhere can you get a Kingmatic repaired or serviced?
ОтветитьI just happened to find your channel while looking for info on the 608B caliber on the Movado Datron. Not sure if that watch existed when you did this video. But one thing is for sure: they don’t really do a good job of transparency when it comes to their movements.
