I love this car but I had a tesla with 250 miles range and i charged it almost everyday so I dont like the idea of charging this car which is just 114 mile range I probably will charge it twice a day

I think I designed this car. I posted a video about the flawed engine mount causing head gaskets to leak on all Minis. The only solution was a electric motor with no head gasket or fluids to leak. I should have more subscribers.

I'm pretty sure only cars assembled in the US are eligible for the federal incentive and according to their list the mini isn't one of them

If it only had more range! Love everything about it except the small battery pack. If they eventually offer a longer range (hopefully 4D) version I'd bite.

Now the new one is 36k, and with only 150-mile (approx) range, not sure if it worths it. It sure seems fun to drive though.

"... with a level one, which is very very slow". A little actual definition would help, when you give stats on levels 2 & 3. Some people won't throw down on level 2 home install/upgrade, and have down time to wait. Thanks.

For everyone dismissing this as a 2nd car, keep in mind you can get this AND a 15k reliable used car (or truck like I did) and still have 10k left in the bank over a model y. I was considering the Kona EV as my only car but after looking at the Better Route Planner travel app, it’s not much less charging time to get to my road trip destinations with the mini SE (still double the Tesla model y charge time). The fact is that electrify America is not anywhere near as ubiquitous and reliable as the Tesla supercharges as of now. If I traveled a lot, there’s no way I would get anything other than a Tesla. I owned a BMW i3 for 3 years and rarely ever came close to it’s 75 mile range in a day. The handful of road trips in that time were taken in my girlfriends car. I wanted the new 120ah i3, but even used ones are more than this (with the tax rebate). After watching Bjorn Nyland’s video of him getting better range in the SE than the i3 120ah, I was sold.

Make it a 4 door with AWD and I’d be VERY interested. Dealing with a car seat in a 2door just isn’t worth the extra stress at this point lol and all wheel is a necessity where I live.

No trunk, two door, no autonomy. Totally useless unless you're single and live in the city and do everything in the city.

They need to get that 0-60 down to mid 6sec. and jcw electric could be mid 5sec but understandably the battery is the weak point and would shorten it’s already short distance.

Terrible vehicle....still too expensive....only gets 100 miles knowing EVs should only be charged to 80% and they degrade 3-5% battery range per year. This thing is a compliance vehicle, not a product any consumer should buy.

My wife is on her 3rd Mini S which is an enjoyable drive but it too has no Android Auto which is an absolute drag. It's great to see Mini going electric but I hope Mini someday gets more modern and puts Android Auto in their cars. Until then I'm sticking with my much more powerful and useful Focus RS which has Android Auto. More power to all the hot hatches like the Mini Cooper though!

Nice review. No blind spot monitoring, no rear cross traffic alert, no android auto and 100 miles range... I will pass and wait for a longer range with better safety features. Ten years ago, cousin had a regular Mini Cooper. Maintenance nightmare.

I love my Mini Cooper SE! I got the mid-level one for about $31K, used the California $1500 rebate as my down payment (nothing out of pocket!). And I just got my $7,500 tax credit yesterday! My commute is 9 miles each way, a full charge lasts me almost the full work week. Also, I get to charge at work for free! My employer gets incentives and rebates for providing electric car charging. If not, I charge at the many charging stations here in the South Bay, it takes about 20 minutes to charge from 20% to 80% using a DC connection. I'll charge at the Target while getting groceries! It costs about $8 for almost a 100% charge for that 100 miles, not bad considering a car that goes 24 miles a gallon in the city would cost about $20 for that in gas. Also, maintenance is so cheap, my next scheduled maintenance is on May 2023! I'll just need to replace the brake pads, which i rarely use because of the awesome regenerative braking. It is a niche car, but if you live in the city, it makes a whole lot of sense.

You can always tell they [KBB] weren’t enthusiastic about any car when it fails to even be longer than 6 minutes. The 2018 Nissan Leaf video got almost 8 minutes, so this car must underwhelm.
