i would speculate he has probably always had an underlying developmental disorder...hes depressed because everyone grew up around him and went on to continue building their lives...but hes been left behind not being able to keep up with the mental and emotional development that characterises a normal pattern of growth...the older you get, the more difficult it becomes to "get it" and adapt to knew ways of thinking...i'd be surprised if be pulls out of it...
