Great video! Something worth noting is that a pulley doesn't actually make anything lighter (in fact, with the tiny bit of resistance it makes it "heavier"), it just feels lighter because you're pulling down instead of lifting up. In order to actually have any mechanical advantage, you would need a "snatch block" at the bag end going back up to the pulley.

I brew with a 120V clawhammer system. It's a great kit. The only thing I really don't like about it is how long it can take to boil. I brewed up a batch last Saturday and it was a good 90 minutes to start rolling. It's not a problem with the kit. It's just asking a lot of 120V. All 120V systems have that problem.

I am going to order one of those GESAIL bucket heaters you mention in this video and see if I can use it as an assist. I'm sure it will work cuz others use assist heaters with great success. Just going to have to find two outlets near each other that are not on the same circuit.

Great video. The Hangover looks interesting in terms of recirculating the mash. The issue I see with it is that you'd have to leave the lid off the kettle in order to use it, which would cause heat retention issues. I guess you could always remove the device after each recirculation.

I've been doing BIAB for my test batches (using a brewzilla for my full size batches) and using a sous vide stick is fantastic for at least 5-8L batches. I think it makes a lot of sense for people that either don't brew very often or only brew smaller batches as it can be used for more stuff than just brewing. If you are however brewing larger batches on a regular basis I feel that going for an electric system makes more sense as an upgrade for temp control.

Trent, Thank you for posting the best homebrew videos on the net! They are always high quality production as well as great content. I would love to see you brew a quick and dirty small batch (say 2 or 2.5 gallon) biab recipe 🍻

I bought a Digiboil and I'm very happy with it. I brew BIAB with it and while its mash temperature isn't as consistent as one with a pump, it's still a very budget friendly upgrade.

Good tips, I've heard about the hangover many times in the brulosophy ad breaks but this is the first time I've seen and fully understood it. It looks like a great add-on! Pulley is definitely on my longterm list too whenever I'm living somewhere I can install one.

Trent, I hope that hook you attached the pully to is able to hold the weight of a full bag. Other than that, when you hit 25k I am going to 🥳🎉

Great video! Love you channel. Would be interesting to see a video from you about brewing a Gluten Free beer. Something that taste good.... Using gluten-free rolled oats, corn, what ever ingredients from a normal store... Enzymes would be key as Barley can't be used... thx

Great video Trent. One problem I’ve never tackled is yeast harvesting so I can save money on purchasing so much yeast. Are you able to do a video on such a topic?

At first i hit the like button, then watch. You have always something good to show!
I also love the simplicity of BIAB.
Here in Europe we have not all that good upgrades, available on time!
Thank you... go on!

One thing to note since you made a plug for Brew Bag, when I ordered mine, Brew Bag customer support told me that if I intended to recirculate to go with the 400 micron bag instead of 200.

Thank you! I love the simplicity of BIAB and the low investment required. And while I do like the idea of an integrated, electric system, it's very pricey to start. The Hangover and electric heaters at the end of the video seem like a great path forward from here!

Nice, already doing a few of these, I recently won a beer contest and won a 27 gal and 15 gal kettles, I am now brewing about 15 gal batches and grain gets really heavy so I have a pulley now but still heavy to try to lock it in place myself so I am adding 3 more pulleys to make it easier ;) Cheers
