Divide et impera mod made Rome 2 super fun to me
ОтветитьCA ist the same CA that makes rome, midevil and empire tw. So no hope sorry..ca isnt a game developer ether..just marketing company..
ОтветитьI wrote this as a reply.. but I think its a decent standalone comment as well. ''
....Rome for example, was not only fun to play, it did have a historical element to it... Hastati, Triarii and Principe's, velites etc were all pretty much historically correct in the way they performed. You COULD imagine you were Caesars refighting certain battles... or Alexander the Great or Hannibal etc etc. There was a certain fascination there seeing how you could compare with the greats of antiquity. The Shogun II game, Three Kingdoms focus on Asian history which may appeal to Japanese or Chinese gamers, but not so much Americans or anyone of European heritage. CA could have created a Pike and Shot era game, from the 1500's - 1850's for example that would have aroused a lot of interest... Thirty Years War, Henry VIII, American War of Independence... heck, you could even squeeze the Texan War of Independence (1836) from Mexico into all that... the spread west of settlers from the 13 Colonies.. then have all sorts of add ons relating to battles with native Americans, or the Cortez versus Aztecs stuff. There is HUGE potential in historical gaming, which is one of the MAIN reason Total War Gamers liked it. Seeing how Roman Legions operated against Macedonian Phalanxes DOES answer questions as to why Alexander was so successful, and guys like Phillip the V were not. This current CA fascination with fantasy type games is pretty much a Bud Lite situation.. they have spent so much time trying to get NEW consumers, the alienated the OLD consumers and ended up destroying their own brand!! The only hope for people who love the franchise is the modding community.. and guess what? They are all FREE!!! Adios Creative Assembly, we need to go our separate ways, and just to be clear, its not me, its you....''
Toxic positivity and tourist fans have ruined countless ips/hobbies specially ones that used to be considered too nerdy and sadly it doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon.

ОтветитьCA sold out to the nerds. Warhammer ruined the series in too many ways. I understand the warhammer fans were so desperate for any video game in their world and setting. But they have been conditioned to be constantly ripped off buying figurines for hundreds of dollars and painting them. I understand even still that this tabletop game series means a lot to them. When I was in middle school around 09 my parents bought medieval 2 for me. It was the only video game I owned. I played the shit out of it probably thousands of hours. And its battle mechanics have been worsened. Never mind the fact that the series had a great ceiling for improvement and didn't live up. It actually got worse. Significantly. Some additions to the campaigns of Attila and 3k are good, but the real time battle mechanics are completely ruined by the stat based health bar combat. Terrain advantages, firing angles of firearms, flanking, morale none of it matters anymore because more stats means better army. Ive maxed out my papal standing and I am calling on a crusade. We will destroy the nerds. Drive them from the holy land. Bully them from the subreddits so they never play our games again. The holy Bible may preach peace, but when it is Total War itself that is threatened, it is every Christian's duty to defend all that is holy. His Holiness, the Volund, has called a Crusade to reclaim the Holy Lands from the Nerds, who would deny Christian pilgrims their right to enjoy good total war. It is time for the armies of Christendom to put aside their differences and unite under one banner - the Sign of the Cross - and give back God's children what is rightfully theirs...or die trying."
ОтветитьNice video. Wouldve liked you to go trough three kingdoms
ОтветитьManor Lords, a Steam Indiegame about medieval city building, is going to offer a better MTW3 style experience than what Creative Assembly could possibly make now.
ОтветитьDaimyo is such a coward too with his not-accusince of anything. Not like Nasmr
ОтветитьYour mom is hot
ОтветитьIde sooner download the stainless steel mod for med 2, than spend a dime on any of this new trash. Great video, thank you
ОтветитьThe Total War IP is made for BIG WARHAMMER MONSTERS

Ответитьrome 2 has been saved by DEI
ОтветитьYou make some good points, but man, you need to work on presentation. It sounded like one long rant. Pace yourself. Don’t sound upset (because it’s annoying to your viewers). There’s a way to criticize while drawing interest and I’m not sure you did itZ
ОтветитьAndy’s take is genuine brain rot
ОтветитьYeah, the first time I turned on Rome Total war I was enamoured with how grand and epic it was. My 14 year old self was awed. It was pretty much my first, truly modern game (pretty much anything after 2009 in my view, but Rome total war set the trend and the standard).
ОтветитьHonestly, since Shogun II I've barely played any total war anymore because of the declining quility. Though the Three Kingdoms game they put out really shone for me. After Pharoah came out though, I reckon the THree kingdoms will be the last truly decent Total war game. I gave up on them a long time ago.
First it was Empire: total war, which was a bland experience at best. The naval battles were amazing at first but they're massive time eaters. So they get dull after a while.
Then Rome II came out and it was just so bad. The graphics were nice but again it was such a bland gameplay experience and the intensity in battle, the strategy, cheesing, the games natural character itself just seemed to have evaporated. Really made for an unenjoyable experience, in my view.
Didn't even start with Warhammer series. The fantasy elements were appealing but after Rome II I just wasn't going there. Shogun II was enough for me. The Three Kingdoms was was pretty epic though. and THEN... pharoah... From that point, the entire franchise was dead to me. I'll never touch another new game from them again.
Rome 2 is fine, eh me. Civil war update ultimately fucked that game up
The Warhammer fans wouldn't like this
ОтветитьAll the OG devs left, the new people suck ass.
ОтветитьWell crafted video
ОтветитьPraetorians was a bloody 10/10 game !
ОтветитьGood video, presents the issue and explains the real issue with CA and how it prioritized profits which resulted in a steady decline of a healthy consumer base... god I hate using these words. "Consumer base"... as in, children playing Rome TW are "consumers".. It is funny to me how every title after Rome TW is the exact same game just with prettied up UI, removed modding capability and updated graphics... even Warhammer 3 plays very much like the original Rome TW, which proves to me the issue with CA as a company. They prioritized profit over innovation, which isn't bad for a leviathan like Microsoft who holds the monopoly anyway. CA isn't Microsoft which means their consumerbase isn't half as big as CoD's so they really have killed off their already niche fanbase.. what a bunch of absolute knobheads, it was a miracle they were even able to keep CA running as long as it has, and its a miracle in that they've run it into the ground.
ОтветитьThis video aged poorly.
ОтветитьI think you glossed over how bad Empire was, not as a game, but as a product.
Empire is where we first got unit & faction DLCs as before that was only base game expansions. Although Empire flopped so bad I think they released the planned Napoleon expansion as a standalone game.
Empire had also set the expectations so low that when we got Shogun 2 people did not focus on the same terrible unit & faction DLCs. It was only after the failure of the Rome 2 launch that people started to pay attention to CAs horrid DLC policy after it already became entrenched.
I was subscribed to the GameInformer magazine, and remember reading an article about Rome 2. All I remember them talking about was how good the graphics looked, specifically breaking down how the developers used a kind of adaptive rendering technique where unit detail would drop the more you zoomed out, but get more detailed as you zoomed in. I was honestly kinda excited about Rome 2 just from the pictures I saw in the magazine.
Then the game came out. Only TW game I'd ever played before that was Shogun 2. I was expecting more of that, but what I got was... not.
Never had an issue with Rome 2 Total War
ОтветитьWell, regarding Arch:
If you have to fake your accent to sound more ... british-ish even though you are from Norway, you are probably a D head.
While you are only interested in the entertainment sector, you see only its decline. The problem is objective, not in the setting of the game, but in the games themselves and all other aspects of entertainment, TV shows, films, etc. If you think about it, the problem is much more serious and global, it is not just the decline of the entertainment industry; if you ever delve into other areas, you will realize that there is the same decline or degradation, call it what you want.
Ответитьdont care
ОтветитьOn point 100%. I fucking hate shills and consoomers.
ОтветитьI wish they’d make total war medieval 3 and just give us a magic dlc that added wizards and dragons in, but make the game very much the sequel to medieval 2.
Ответитьwe all thought they were coming back with shogun 2 and esp Fots -- rome 2 is what every game since was based on. it's sad
ОтветитьGreat video!
ОтветитьThe problem I have is you are angry at Warhammer, becaue it takes away from Historical. Why can't they be seperate things? Total War Warhammer should never come up in the Historical setting discussion. I am a HUGE Warhammer Fantasy fan, and Warhammer Fantasy has never been shown any love.
I also love Historical settings, so when we discuss the fall of CA, I think dumbing down of features in Rome 2, Three Kingdoms, Brittainia and Napoleon should be the argument.
Warhammer should be looked at with no regard to plethora of features found in Rome 1 and Medieval 2.
@Nasmr I'm currently playing a modded game of Shogun 2 FOTS where it lets me play as the United States and I'm having way more fun than I have ever had playing Warhammer 3. I joined the TW series with Napoleon, and i really hate that we can't move individual units in newer titles. So going back and playing Shogun 2 is refreshing. I refunded 3 Kingdoms because I didn't like the focus on hero generals when the armies are why I play. Hopefully we get Medieval 3 or Empire 2, or Napoleon 2 or Shogun 3. Something from when things were better mechanically. Heck, I'd even take a proper WW1 game.
Its too bad we have seen a trend of TW content creators being bought. As a content creator myself I always felt frustrated that I can't compete fairly as I have no chance of getting early access to games. Its really hard to grow as a content creator so I rely on playing mods to stand out.
I want to say a massive thank you for talking about this important issue. Us small content creators need to support each other, rather than praising the bigger ones. I hope things get better as a whole, and while I'm not the most educated on TW, I know a lot about content creation.
So if you see this I'm happy to talk about the content creator side of things, been making content since 2009, only this year got monetized. The inequality of companies doubling down on sell out large creators is sad.
Thank you for your time.
Still in rome 2, DEI of course.
ОтветитьRome 2 was my first TW game. I remember seeing the older games on the shelves but I grew up playing mostly RTS games like age of empires and red alert. I knew people hated the game when it came out but I loved it. I like it because I like Roman history and I find the game somewhat immersive. I don't understand the hate it gets.
Ответить>”Empire did not live up to the distinguished gentlemanly reputation of the classic games.”
lol ok
Total War has always been broken trash, let us not mince words here. But what kept it alive was its innovative battles, campaign system, and talented modding community that delivered such masterpieces as Third Age: Divide and Conquer.
But now they’re not even letting us have that either. Battles have become mindless blobfests, instead of having the potential for engaging tactical play but being hampered by the buggy AI, and the mods are no longer these exciting, massive total conversions because the Warscape engine hates fun apparently.
I liked the naval battles in multiplayer
ОтветитьMaking games is no longer about making games and getting paid for it, its about making money in any way possible. If it was legal to ship crack with a game - they would do it.
ОтветитьIs Rome Total War dead?
Not for me. Never. It's still the #1 Game ever created. I love it, bugs and all.
ROME 2 is good game and better than shogun 2.
Ответитьwhat a current CA employee told me directly:
"I completely get that your passion lies in Total War, and it's a classic scenario of a game with a devoted following that has abused its fanbase. In company meetings, Rob Bartholomew used to present us with these charts illustrating game sales and how they compared to one another. The total sales of tentpole releases don't fluctuate much, so the key to boosting profits is to raise the average spend per player. Personally, I don't think DLC is inherently problematic, but it often feels like Total War DLC has become a rather cynical method of achieving this goal at this point."
and these shills go along with it. they act like its all fine. they love it. the absolute brown-nosing. they might as well be sitting in on these meetings and sucking them off under the table, only stopping to scramble for carpet crumbs together.
great video man, always glad to see other people spotting and calling this shit out.
