when i was around 10years old or so I had an accident while diving/swimming with a friend in a pond, we were diving under a ponton bridge/raft as a game. At one point while i was underwater and trying to resurface i kept headbutting to something underwater and was unable to resurface after few attempts. The fear I felt was imense, but atleast it only lasted for few seconds, luckily i managed to stay focused and swam much further with the last breath remaining and resurfaced. I know what the fear of iminent death is like, even though it was 20 years ago. I understand what the divers felt their last seconds.

They all deserved it.
They challenged nature and they got punished for it

I think I'll stick to the tourist type caves like Luray or Kutztown, then even then I still feel a little apprehensive.

Sorry but I just about made it to the third segment and gave up..... I know it gives dramatic effect but for fucks sake will you speak so people can hear you?!? Absolutely no need for the constant muttering. This could have been a great video.

I came here because i listened to John's story a few days ago and i was feeling... Idk what but not good i can't focus on my exam studies so i thought maybe if i watch more of it i can get away with this but now I'm again stuck in John's story 😢😢😢

Little correction to the Nutty Putty incident, as he wasn't stuck in the birth canal: From the way they came in, the tunnel splits into two, one of which is the birth canal. However John took the wrong way, squeezing into a dead end, named Ed's push. Thinking it was the birth canal, he went deeper and deeper until he slid over a piece of rock, falling from a slight downwards position into an almost upside down position. The attempts of Josh to rescue him resulted in him turning further upside down. The biggest issue with the rescue was getting John back over the lump of rock he squeezed over. The place he was in was basically a one way, human sized hole... Awful way to go

I might also add, that, contratry to popular belief for some reason, the guy with the red helment is not John. Even tho he looks exhausted and there might a similarity, this man is Brandon Kowallis, who was part of the rescue team. Getting a picture of John from that angle would have been impossible. The way he looked at the rescuer, was probably just glancing sideways

Videos like these help me with claustrophobia, because everytime someone manages to free themselves from a really scary situation, I am a bit more confident. Incidents like Nutty Putty cave are something else tho...

Went caving ONCE. Was forced to do it for adventure training in the military, NEVER again 😂

My main question is ….why?

I am doubtlessly claustrophobic in the sense that I do not like being stuck somewhere tight without any escape: being claustrophobic is perfectly normal behaviour among the majority of the population. After watching a number of caving videos showing people crawling with rock faces just a few inches above them, their backs scraping along these and almost getting stuck, and worse, sometimes water flowing along too, thus forcing them to keep their heads sideways just to breathe, I honestly don't understand why they endanger themselves like that. I can see the thrill of seeing impressive formations and crystal structures in the larger "rooms", but would only want to see such things myself in touristic style caves where I can easily walk in and back out. The risks some of these cavers are taking are simply either foolish or blatantly ignorant. The key problem is that they also endanger those who have to go in there to save them - when it's possible.

Im claustrophobic as fuck...Sadly i must watch this anyway

I love caving 😅 I'm 6 ft and slim, but very strong, so I can reach very far and grip well, and can squeeze through almost anything.

Only people who do this cave adventure are not Claustrophobic . rest are others who have fear and come frequently to watch these videos 💀

What's scary to me is that these passages that have water flow are probably slowly accumulating mineral deposits and narrowing, so just because someone fit thru it one time doesn't mean someone will a year later.

I like caving but not these deep tight ones. There are casual caves that are more like a walk underground with cool passages and formations. I'd be to scared to do this kind of exploring.
