Im getting similar messages. But the person who wants my art wants to pay in the form of bitcoin on binance.

Thanks for sharing this with us. I got about 4 scam inquiries so far with the latest one being the mural one, exact same as you. All the ones were paying through a child account which did not let them do e-transfer to a third party account, so they wanted to pay with digital cheque. It is very frustrating. I am an emerging artist from Airdrie, AB. It is so annoying, you get excited about the idea of someone liking your work enough to buy it and they just want to take advantage of you. And on top of waiting your time.

John contacted me as well with the mural thing!! So funny. However the minute he asked me where I was from I stopped talking immediately. My art is all about one place and if he had to ask..

I string them along until they send the "cheque", and then I take the fake cheque to my bank, who documents the "bank fraud" and the bank sends the cheque to the fraud div. of the law. They want minimal handling of the cheque and to include the envelope.... for fingerprints?

I only have people messaging me to give me "fantastic exposure" through their IG account, which, of course, is as an influencer. I play dumb sometimes just to see how much it costs but most of the time I just block them. I haven't had any similar to what you shared... although I am a photographer, so maybe that makes the difference.
