As it is, I was raised by my grandmother who is very pro union and at least for my ENTIRE life had voted democrat. she will deny that today and state she votes for whoever is the best, she is mainly refering to past when times were a bit different. when you could feel alright for voting for a republican....you know....back in the 50's and 60's. I also think due to such hostility out there, she may be afraid to pick a side for fear of backlash.
