What do you think? Does the idea of more weight from your heating pad sound good? Will you give Lava Sand a try?
ОтветитьI just bought some. Made a 3x3 hand-warmer with 1.5oz of sand. As an experiment I microwaved it for 30 seconds. It was too cold. Put it back in for another 30 seconds. It was nice. But I forgot to time how long it was warm. So way later in the day I put it in for a minute straight. It was warm for about 22 minutes. Then in the evening I was showing my husband and noticed it was burnt. So back to the microwave. One minute straight to test the burning. Yep. More burning. I temp tested it. 190 degrees. This sand gets hot and stays hot. I definitely recommend the two times at 30 seconds, with a shake in-between. I have also put it in the freezer and it works great! I haven’t time tested that though.
ОтветитьI attempted this a while ago. Used cotton fabric and microwave and the sand scorched it Left burn mark and now sand leaks out
ОтветитьSubscribed! Thanks for this video. I have a BB neck wrap and I couldn't stand the 'barn' smell anymore, so I saved the 2 rope ends, bought a 3# bag of lava sand, and I'm going to make a neck wrap with a channel. I too did a test on the sand and it seeped through so I will definitely be doing two layers with new fabric. Can't wait!
Ответить❤❤❤❤❤ I LOVE that you used panel fabric. I have several left over from a class I taught. I will follow the advice from one comment and use the pretty fabric as a pillowcase and plain fabric as the actual heat/cold pack. Thank you for sharing your idea. I think these would make great gifts, especially for my older family, friends, and myself! 😊😊
ОтветитьSounds like a great idea thank you
ОтветитьAwesome product. I also make lava heating/cooling bags, purchased from Lavayoo for 2 years now, and teaching others about all the benefits of Lava sand.
ОтветитьI would sew a sand sack permanently sewn closed out of muslin. Then i would use the pretty fabric and sew a removable pillow case. This way, the pillow case can be laundered. These heat packs can get smelly from body oils and perspiration. Thanks for the tutorial.
ОтветитьHow hot can it get? I like a heat pack to get hot to almost unbearable heat.
ОтветитьI always use muslin with my fabric. That way I feel safe. 😂
ОтветитьWould you recommend a layer of batting under the cotton fabric to give the bag more structure? I guess it would need to be all cotton batting if used in the microwave.
ОтветитьI like the idea of sand. I really like the odorless aspect as I have asthma and some scents choke me up. I'd use it. Thanks for sharing because I never knew lava sand existed.
ОтветитьWhoa baby!! Just found out how expensive lava sand is. I may have to hold off on that experiment.
ОтветитьI'd be inclined to do this with channels, and use a funnel to fill... but I'd like to try it. I usually use white rice (rarely eat it, but use it for hot packs!) Thank you!
ОтветитьDefinitely like it. I'll be making it ❤
ОтветитьVery cool. I would sew a closure at the top and leave and opening, use a funnel to add the sand.
ОтветитьVery interesting. Thanks for sharing this with us!!
