The stand at 56 is wild
, love the honesty
Wow! Fairy Tale last book... We are very different people. Not sure about a few others on this list too like The Stand. Everyone is entitled to their opinions obviously though.
ОтветитьRare to find a King aficionado who puts The Stand so low on the list. I totally agree!! Robert McCammon's Swan Song and The Road by Cormac McCarthy were so much better. I'd put IT lower than The Stand though. IT needed around 500 pages taken out of it. Way too longwinded even by King's standard.
My top-two are Salem's Lot. I read that decades ago when it was published and still have my original copy. The second of my top-two is Needful Things. Those two books are the ones that stuck with me over the years.
I have only read 3 stephen king books so far, but I am going to read them all.
My top 3
The stand
Salem's lot
Under the dome
All fantastic books!!
As a massive King fan who has also read every book this was a great watch but I absolutely LOVED Fairy Tale.
That was the biggest shocker for me here, the rest of your ranking is pretty much similar to me
The Institute would be a lot higher for me. Was an enjoyable read
ОтветитьCell in the top 5 worse, sorry sir but no
ОтветитьI would rank The Stand around the 40s myself.
But the best book, I would say Pet Sematary for horror and Different Seasons as the best fictional book I have read.
woah i LOVED fairytale i was so shoked when i saw it was at the very bottom😂
ОтветитьWhen he said Fairy Tale at 77 my jaw dropped. This is one of my favorites. Just shows King has flavors for everyone
ОтветитьI remember almost nothing about Tommyknockers. I have that in common with King himself.
Ответить11/22/63 may just be the greatest book ever written.
ОтветитьThis list is bonkers I love it
ОтветитьThe strangest part of this list for me is that I agree with his relative rankings of the Dark Tower books, but then he loved Insomnia?! I DNFed that one.
Ответить"At 58 'Wizard and Glass'"... that's when I stopped 🤣 I took a peek at the top 5 though... Nice #1! 👌
ОтветитьGreat video. Love your passion. Thanks for making it. I’m not sure Tom Gordon even likes Tom Gordon.
ОтветитьWhat I keep rereading:
Drawing of the Three, Rose Madder, The Long Walk, Carrie, The Shining.
I'm one of the Fairy Tale lovers. :)
I got into SK because my dad liked his books. I was about 12 and we were on vacation. He had brought The Shining. I started it, then my dad said, no, I polled a lot of adults and we think you should wait on this one. Ok, fine. He later said, "read this one paragraph" from a short story. It was the laundry machine eating someone, then getting up and walking away. He said that's what you're getting into.
He had a book of 4 novels: Carrie, The Shining, Night Shift, and Salem's Lot. That's where I officially started.
Finally someone agrees with me about the Stand. I also think wizard and glass is boring too
Ответить56?!?!?!?!?! raaaaaaage
Honestly tho, great video. Helped me pick out which King book to buy and read next.
I agree Fairytale except for the first quarter 😂. I couldn’t read it such a boring book
ОтветитьGive me a range from 1 to 10 of Dr sleep , Personally I would say 7 or 8 because it is a great sequel.
ОтветитьThe Regulators was the first King/Bachman book I ever read and I loved it to me, it's the truest essence side of King's crazy side but actually performed well, lots of nostalgia & the Stephen King drinking game with this one it's just great fun & such a unique story -Under The Dome was also amazing.
ОтветитьDoes bro even like king😂😂
ОтветитьInteresting list and liked the placement of The Stand, and 90% of the list, but I loved Wizard and Glass and Cujo.
ОтветитьThis guy is a joke.
ОтветитьI have "The Talisman" ranked much, much higher in my rankings.
ОтветитьPet Sematary no1,Dolores Claiborne massively underrated
ОтветитьCujo was my first Stephen King book too, its still the one that kinda scared me because a large powerful dog with rabies could happen. And yes Cujo was a good dog he couldn't help it that he had neglectful owners that didn't really take care of him.
ОтветитьThe Running Man is anything but silly. Just read it
ОтветитьI've watched several of these King ranking videos and yours is the most entertaining. 😆
ОтветитьSo many hard agrees and I’m only halfway through. The Wizard and Glass, Black House, and The Talisman bored me too.
“Burn those stupid pricks!” Iconic!
Wow you ranked Everything's Eventual no.15, I like it too.
Ответитьthe stand 56??????????
I have no problem with your opinion, but the stand is objectively great.
Subscribe immediately. I have read around 30 of Stephen King's works and hope to read more (maybe in the publication order)!
ОтветитьOh man fairy tail is in my top 5
ОтветитьJust an observation: Wolves of Calla literally says multiple times leading to the battle that the confrontation will only last minutes. It serves as a serviceable reset to the series post-accident and sets up the last three Tower books well.
ОтветитьI'll go to the grave saying that 11/22/63 is overrated af
ОтветитьI know reading is subjective, but The Stand at 56 feels contrarian for the sake of being contrarian.
ОтветитьHonestly 11/22/63 changed my reading life
ОтветитьA Stephen King fan with his nails painted, that's my kinda dude right there, could totally be best friends
ОтветитьFINALLY someone doing justice to INSOMNIA!!!
ОтветитьJust read Rose Madder and totally agree, it is way too underrated!!
ОтветитьI love The Stand but I oddly do mostly agree with your assessment. The first third with the virus spreading and everything falling apart is easily the highlight of the book for me.
I do still find the later 2/3rds to be engaging though! I think moreso because I liked the characters than what was actually happening in the story.
Loved the "f*ck you Lisey's Story is up here" attitude. Although it wasn't my favorite in terms of the supernatural, I think it's such an... Interesting and honest examination of love, but also of loneliness. It feels like a testament to the love King has for his wife. Not necessarily because Lisey has to based on her in any way, but in the way he talks about Lisey and Scott's marriage as something assured, as something not sacred but dear to them both. The way he integrates their micro--dialect to bring you right up close to that "frightening intimacy" is done really well for me. But, yeah, Boo'ya Moon is a stupid name for another dimension.
ОтветитьFor 77 books and the negativity to stop around 55-56 is massively impressive for an author. Wow.
ОтветитьMight be the only booktuber who's read a lot of King and dislikes The Stand 😧
Ответитьthe dead zone is my favorite book of all time ❤
ОтветитьStop swearing
